Mossberg Tactical .22

ya thats the problem i am having is that the adapters are only small to big. Somebody posted a pic with the same red dot i have and he said it fit on right out of the box so i assume there is a version that comes with the dovetail

You sure he had the same small dovetail version you have ? I just don't see Mossberg making an optional rail for a $200 gun, and never heard of anyone mentioning anything regarding this.

Ok I have one, I fired around 250 rounds on Saturday (Rem Thunderbolts - cheapest ammo you can find I think 17.95 for a brick).

First Impression:

Super fun gun for the price, definitely worth the 310 I paid all in.

Pros:
No jams whatsoever
Fairly light
Looks awesome
Accuracy not bad - forgot my spotting scope so couldn't really dial it in properly
5 rails (including removable top)

Cons:
Mag release is horribly cheap, it will not pop the mag out unless you pull on it while pressing the mag release knob.
Only 10 round mag available (found 1 30 round mag in the states but sold out and impossible to get).
Body could be a bit tighter but for me that's not an issue really

That's pretty much it, if you guys have questions before purchasing 1 p.m me :)

Yeah the mag release is a pain. I'm wasn't a big fan of how the action works, although I am slowly getting used to it.

i took the gun completely apart and put it back together and it seems tighter and the mag release works fine, it only works smoothly if the action is open though

it seemed that when i took it apart the hex screws werent tight and it cause the mag release on the internals not to be right up on the fake selector on the external so it didnt work well, way better now

Interesting, I should do the same as mine is overdue for a cleaning anyway. Does the mag actually drop now? Or does it still need to be pulled?

The problem you are having is because the mag is being held in by the bolt pushing on the hold back on the mag follower. It is not a problem with the mag release. If you lock the bolt back before you try to release the mag it will drop out easily. I am thinking of removing the lock back tab on the follower so I don't have to do that. Of course the bolt won't stay back after my last shot but as I shoot 10/22's a lot that really doesn't matter to me.

Not on mine. Even if I lock the bolt open or close it the mag still needs to be pulled out, won't drop on its own. I know what you are talking about though, if you try and remove the mag after the last shot without locking the bolt back it presses against the mag.

so i got my .22 red dot sight with a dovetail attatchment to go on my weaver rail, it only took a drummel, sander, bandsaw, and a lot of 5 min epoxy, its on the rail for good now.

Any advice on sighting in a red dot? i was thinking doing it at 25 yards.

I just rested mine on a shooting bench with a front rest and had somebody beside me with binoculars telling me what adjustments to make. Was accurate enough for 25y.

So what is the general feeling of this gun? Is it worth the cash?

I'm real happy with mine .
Proven design , tough , accurate ...and fun !
( still waiting for word on the 25rd mags)
I've dumped a ton of accessories onto mine and it's still works out cheaper than other tacticool .22's

shot it on the weekend and not a single jam in 400 rounds. very fun accurate enough with the open sights. still have to zero the red dot. i dont know it the metal frame of the sr-22 is worth 300 more now that ive shot it

sorry, im a bit confused here. so will this one work? or will it need an adapter. Sorry if this question is noobile.

It says it has a "Built-on dovetail rail to fit standard centrefire weaver-style bases" so yes it will fit just fine. It should have Tasco model #BKRD30 printed on the box, do not get the BKRD3022 model. Do not confuse the Tasco number with the CT product number either.
