Just a simple question for you all.

What handgun seems to be able to take the most abuse?
Like being shot for a few thousand rounds without being cleaned or oiled?

Thanks,

I set my glock on fire and it still works :eek: :p

No really, just google the word torture test and the name of the pistol, lots of results will come up.

I know I have seen some pretty cool torture tests done on sigs as well.

It is well know that the Glock 17 is the most reliable pistol in the world and it has nothing to do with the fact that I just bought one last week!:p

Ruger

A ruger GP100 can take any abuse and still function everytime you pull the trigger. If I was going to go outside for a long time and living off the land. I would take the GP100 with a lot of.357 magnum ammo.

If you like plastic guns (I sure don't), then a Glock would be a good choice.

If you like metal guns (I sure do), then Sig pistols, or a well-made 1911 (Springfield, Colt, etc)

+1 and +1 for the glock.I know i picked 2 but they are both great guns.

:agree::agree::agree::agree:

Just substitute any Ruger model you want in place of GP100. (Just like the Glock guy said- substitute any # or model you want.) I would place Glocks second after RUGERS!! But a distant second!!!

a deputy sheriff friend has a cz75 as a personal gun, and purposely put it to the test, fired lots of rounds over the last couple of years, no cleaning, regular inspection for his torture test, a dab of oil here and there and it is still going strong with still no problems or malfunctions the last time he told me.

like the energizer bunny. maybe the communist bloc design?

One of the Modern HK's: P2000, P30, HK45.

Guys on HKPro have done torture tests of those.

The recoil spring assembly on P2000 are rated for 30-40K before replacing. Even with Glocks you should change those every 5-10K or so.
