Most accurate 22LR $500 or less

I had 5 Savage MKII’s over the last 13 years and from my personal experience, the oldest one was the best one I ever had.

Bought 4 in the last years and the trigger and accuracy was not as good as my first one.

They are accurate but the overall quality is average.

I swear to god I will not buy another one.

Haha, I know what you mean - I've made that vow before (and then broken my word). They are still in a sweet spot in the range of new retail options.

What would you buy, out of the current offerings?

Personally, I would look around for a fine used/vintage rifle. There are some outstanding ones out there.

This is good advice.
My most accurate 22lr rifle is the Shultz&Larsen with diopter sights and CCI SV ammo.
The Savage MKII TR is almost as accurate with the same ammo.....just not as consistent.
Both were picked up on the EE and under your budget......

For 150$ more I got an Anschutz 64 with only 1000rds thru it. That was only this summer, not a decade or back in the day price. So the deals are out there.

which 20 moa rail would you guys choose, EGW or MDT? thinking about putting a 20 moa on the fvsr. the EGW is around 120.00 and the MDT is about 90.00

The MDT rail is THE BEST for Savage MK2. The rail portion is longer than any other rail for the MK2.

Plus its Canadian made and everything made by EGW is top quality.

Get a rail that fits the scope elevation travel you are mounting. How many MOA does your scope have in elevation travel? For rimfire get a rail that's almost half as much. I run a 40MOA EGW on mine with a Strike Eagle but could use 50MOA, but 50MOA wasn't available when I bought my rail a few years ago.

i have 67 moa. at the very most i would maybe go 300 yards. 20 moa should cut it?

i thought about it. but im concerned it'll bottom out and not be able to get a 50 yard zero... most my shooting is 50 and 100. but, it would be nice to go out farther on occasion

You could always get the 20 moa rail and Burris rings with the offset bushings if you want more elevation. They're not real cheap, but they're good rings.

I like my savage mk2. It's quite accurate. I haven't fired it much but I did have some ejection malfunctions with blaser ammo everything else has been fine.

i got my MKII FVSR out today. tried a bunch of diff ammo. eley contact was the winner, sub moa. even cci sv did well, close to moa. i’m impressed for such an inexpensive rifle! also, not one fail to feed or extract in the 200 rounds or so i shot. got a keeper maybe…

Try some Center-X. both FV-SRs that I have had liked that all the way out to 300m.
