lookin to get a plinker and put a decent scope on it, was looking at the CZ 455 in particular, what rifles are the most accurate in the 22LR world these days?

You can't go wrong with a CZ 22lr I've shot a few and damn are they accurate. Cz 455, or Cz 457 either or will do, Though keep in mind bolt throw for your scope, as the Cz 455 has a 90 degree throw compared to the CZ 457's 60 degree throw.

If the CZ 455/457 is the price range you're looking at, you may have already picked the best one. Anything Anschutz is a good bet. So is a vudoo, but they cost more.

The Savage B22 is decently accurate in your price range, but I would not recommend it due to extraction issues and poor QC in general. Mine was a pain in the butt.

A custom 10/22 can be quite accurate but I don't think they win a lot of bench rest competitions, so that may not be the way to go if you want the most accuracy possible. They also get expensive. Mine is about 1 MOA at 50 and 100m with ammo it likes best, a little worse with CCI SV.

The Tikka T1X is interesting, but I don't have one to give a first hand account. IBI makes a prefit barrel replacement for it so if it doesn't shoot well out of the box there's a fix available.

If you're asking what the MOST accurate 22lr is, I don't think a CZ will feature in that list. MOST accurate would most likely be a Vudoo or a Zermatt Arms RIMX, or the likes. CZ would be a good budget choice, but it's definitely not the MOST accurate.... You have to spend money to get the most accurate 22lr out there.

Accurate is only as good as the conditions presented

Weather
Shooter
Ammo
Firearm

Few weeks back I tried to pass the (5) 5 shot challenge on a day it was very cold, my Anschutz rifle trigger is set to 8oz, needs precise trigger control, gloves off, my fingers were freezing and couldn't feel my hand after so many shots.

Last week I took the challenge on a somewhat mild day, passed the challenge

If you have an endless budget Vudoo V22 is regarded by most as the most accurate .22LR on the market. Plenty of reviews and seen friends who have them and they are a nice piece of kit.

I have a T1X in an MDT chassis and its been good to me. If I'm doing my job right it will shoot .75-1 inch groups at 50 and 100 with SK Standard plus. Haven't felt the needed to get an IBI barrell just yet, but we will see.

What are you planning on using this rifle for? A little bit of everything or something more specific. That could dictate the direction you need to go. If your just gonna punch paper from the bench then a single shot BR rifle will not be beat. If its a mixture of popin cans and a little small game hunting then a lighter weight repeating rifle would be in order. If your gonna try some ORPS or CRPS shooting then its another model you should seek. Only you can make those decisions. You dont need to own a Vudoo or a RIM X to have an accurate rifle. Look for a good used Annie and youll be on a good path and it will hold its value. Best of luck

You have addressed the want/need/use issues Londstud.

A price range would be a huge asset especially if you don't have deep pockets.

High pockets would be an asset as it would deter a number of those ground feeders trying to spend you money.

You really should familiarize with the price of some of the suggestions. banished just listed an Anschutz at $1650. Is that too high? Give us an idea. Then what are you going to scope it with?

Plinking/ gophers/benchrest type scopes may not be compatible.

When you ask for most accurate, you need to state a budget, because 90% of the people asking for the most accurate, are not willing to pay for the most accurate.

Funny part is the OP asked what the MOST accurate 22lr was. Accuracy mostly costs money. And a CZ or the likes is most definitely not the MOST accurate 22LR on the market. The Vudoo probably fits that bill. OP should have asked what the best value for money with reasonable accuracy is - then the CZ would fit the bill....

Even funnier is he asked about an accurate plinker..... and for some reason everyone read past that and got stuck on "most accurate".

Last time I checked, plinking cans is not an olympic sport or an elite shooting discipline, dominated by high end rifles that most people have never heard of..... :)

Can-down!

Most accurate with what ammunition and at what distance? I had some success with a Cooey model 60 some years ago, but limited that to standard velocity and shorts.

Rather depends on what you want to do with the rifle. For 300 meters, not a chance. For plinking at 50 meters, many very good options.

though i guess i may should of been more specific, i was looking at rifles around the CZ price point, and am just going to be shooting cans, paper etc, it would seem the CZ is one of the better option

i appreciate the feedback

At that price the CZ is hard to beat, excellent quality and value for the money. Tikka would be a consideration but is more expensive. Not sure it is worth that much $$. Do a little more research and you will see that the CZ 457 has several improvements/upgrades over the previous models.
