In your price range i would certainly go with a CZ as its in a different class and your not taking much of a chance if any for getting a dud like the Savage.
Hoyt. After my bear hunt I can let you borrow my bone stock mark2 22lr if you want a range date with your new friend. Just promise to send it back
Ha, ok then. I made my point.
I also find it interesting that you dismiss what I posted about my CZ, then recoil from a fair challenge.
As for the insult... stay classy buddy... LOL.
CZ's most definitely shoot better than Savages...
See, I'm right, they're hideous.
BTW, what cal is the bottom one?
I initially simply challenged your unsupportable blanket statement... this is the internet, everyone has an opinion... and I am too old to jump at "#### measuring" challenges... that is where the "mom" comment came from... IME challenges of that nature are generally issued by the very young or inexperienced.
I only issued the challenge after you called in to question the veracity of my posting in the other thread. I've owned and shot many Savages, CZ's, Anschutz, Marlin, Martini-Henry, BRNO, etc. rimfires too, so don't think you're the only one with trigger time under your belt. You are correct that it is unwitnessed; however, if you are going to make such a point, and argue that because of that, the results should be dismissed, don't be surprised if someone challenges you to come out and see the results duplicated as well as prove the point that CZ's are generally more accurate than Savages (which has been my experience after owning several of both). If you wish to retract your statements made in #31, I see no reason to leave the challenge open. If not, you should have no problem accepting the offer made to borrow a Savage and show this young-un how to shoot (I don't think my Mom will drive me though, she'd have to fly back from her comfortable retirement in Austria to do that, so I'll have to drive myself there...).
I am also quite disappointed that you have not acknowledged the fact that I clarified my original post, and pointed out that it should be understood that in a thread of this nature, one talks in generalities (from my first response to your initial objection). I also noted that naturally there will be outliers. Some Savages will outshoot some CZ's, but most CZ's will outshoot most Savages (a fair summation, no?). I clarified and expanded on my original post in #19, #21 and #30, yet you're still quoting my original post with the deliberate intention of misunderstanding the context, despite it being clarified multiple times. At this point, you've constructed a straw man argument, and are arguing against a point I didn't actually make.
Thank you all for the great input. I have just purchased the CZ 455 FS! Looking forward to getting it.
Cheers.
I'm a CZ fan, but I can't support this blanket statement... the most accurate rifle I have ever owned was a Savage MKII HM2.
How about this: most of the time most CZ's will shoot better than most Savages.
Did it happen to have an Applejack thumbhole stock, threaded brake, DIP bottom metal, etc? If so I was the one who bought it from you, and now it is in the hands of another CGNer.
It was a fantastic shooter, and made a heck of a crack for a rimfire. It was the first (and last) Savage I ever owned, and though it wasn't as nicely finished as a CZ, it easily out shot all but one CZ I've owned.
