Most accurate Semi-Auto 223 Non-Restricted

What kind of groups did you get out of your Varminter?
What ammo were you using?

Err, there's a whole forum dedicated to the ACR, plenty of proof there as to the accuracy on a ACR. Not to mention the results of the folks here.

the thing with the acr is you need to put a top barrel on it when you make it NR, if you put a dlask barrel on it dont expect sub moa. Great thing about the acr is that it takes AR mags, AR triggers, without any gimmicking, thats why I got mine.

My MV can shoot 10 rnd groups at 1/2 MOA ! But then I wake up and realize it's only another wet dream:) as I won't have it till the summer of 16.( that's when the first run will be ready).

Would you show me this rifle
I cant find it on their website.
Where can I find a rifle like that ?
How manny pesos $$$

Thanks
The Swiss Arms Sniper was limited production and is not currently produced. There is supposed to be around a dozen or so of these in Canada (I have one) but rarely come up for sale and when they do the prices asked are often laughable ($8000. plus) but if you could snag one for under $6000 that would be fair. Phil.

I had an SL-8-5 that I used in an F-class competition a number of years ago. I was feeding it 68 Grain Match ammo (factory) and it was holding sub MOA at 300 meters. Pleased with the rifle, but when I rolled back into Service Rifle, I shot my AR, and when I was shooting precision matches, I was shooting my Armament Technology rifle, which is a 1/3-1/2 MOA bolt rifle based on the Remington.

I sold the SL-8 a while back, no regrets, I enjoyed shooting it. I still have the manual (found it on a shelf last week)

I hate it when people say they can't use it when it's restricted. Really??? How about a gun range

Well be honest now, NO you can't just use your gun when its restricted ! Your allowed to go to a range in the hours that "THEY" are open, They also decide what ammo your allowed to shoot, My local gun club doesn't allow any surplus / fmj / steel bullets ect. Basically I was told only hunting bullets so basically $2+ a shot bullets only also I was told no pistol magazines for your rifle. So NO sorry your just not allowed to use a restricted gun ! Honestly with Tavor or XCR or ACR or others being NR and are excellent guns there is no reason to be told when shoot and what your allowed to use as bullets especially when you live in places with access to the open bush with a 5 min drive.

There was 10 complete rifles imported and a few were built from OEM parts kits IIRC

My thoughts on the stuff I've owned:

ACR
Paying a premium for a rifle with an unknown accuracy potential. Prices are more than the Swiss arms if that is believable...
unknown? I think you need to look at current pricing as well, even after caliber conversion I am into it for less than MV pricing and accuracy is under moa. New retail on the Swiss is more

I've been following this thread with much interest, 'cause I am also considering a semi in .223 this year. But it's a bit disheartening. Main lesson from the thread is that I should probably forget all about MOA on a .223 semi because I haven't won the lotto or found a rich widow to marry. ;)

The accurate rifles (ATRS MV, SA SG550, HK SL8) are so ridiculously expensive ($3000-$4500) that I could probably buy two excellent quality bolt- and lever-actions for the price of them and still have change left for a nice .22 plinker. :)

The semi-accurate semis on the next step down look like a LOT of fun: IWI Tavor TAR-21, Rob Arms XCR, Bushmaster ACR, Benelli MR-1, FAMAE SG 540... but they're still $2000-$3000 for about 2 MOA. On the plus side, lots of accessories on the market and most use AR-style mags.

And then there are the plinkers on the bottom rung... Ruger Mini-14, CSA Vz.58, Norinco Type 97... $1000-$1500 and I'd expect 4 MOA from those on a lucky day...

For reference, I get <3MOA from a Beretta Cx4 from a front rest with 9mm FMJ Geco ammo. I'm not a great shooter, but I'm not the worst out there, I think. So here's the question: before I make a choice and commit to a purchase (anyone wanna buy a used kidney?), are there other NON RESTRICTED SEMI-AUTO .223/5.56mm that I should have had on this list but forgot or didn't know about?

Thanks!

(Edit: please do NOT include anything that must be upgraded by changing the trigger group, barrel, etc. to become accurate. At this point I am looking only at out-of-the-box specs!).

I recently sold my ACR out of necessity :( I am on the pre-order for the ATRS MV so hopefully it fills the void. That being said I will most definitely buy another ACR when the funds allow it. I have always wanted a Swiss Arms, their quality is unmatched however with the current government and recent fiasco surrounding them I am afraid to invest 3-4k on one.

Not sure if anyone in Canada has a Volquartsen Evolution.

A bit on the pricey side ($2500 US and up; plus whatever it costs to import) but it should be ready to shoot right out of the box, no need for any further accessories. When compared to a rebarrelling an ACR or a well kitted out ATR Modern Varmint its in the ball park.
