Most effective long range sniper rifle ??

Hilarious:D Looks like they are a little less diplomatic than us CGN'ers. H'mm Maybe 2500 isn't the norm after all?

Maybe he should talk to this guy, they both seem on the same page: (Found this gem on snipershide)

Hi everyone need to stop in and introduce myself. Though I've spent a number of years with airsoft and paintball guns I haven't owned a real gun yet. I know, airsoft sucks, but it's the only thing I could use while I lived with my parents, so I fugured it was better training than nothing.

I finally got a decent job (warehouse at Walmart and I get a discount!) and wanted to pick up a good gun to start my sniper training. I already bought the scope (got a great deal on a sniper scope from ebay, it's a us military production scope made of titanium, retails for about $5k and I got it for $400) and want to get a rifle to put it on.

Right now I'm still trying to find a 1000 yard sniper training range in my area (Columbus, OH) and was hoping to find a rifle that can shoot one inch (moa) groups at 1000 meters/

I'm planning on applying to the secret service one of these days to get a job as a sniper so I want to start my training right away. I was thinking about getting a 50 calaber sniper rifle to start with but I don't have that kind of money. The gun that I found that is in my range is here- Sniper Rifle

I know that a brake is important on a sniper rifle so this looks like a great choise for me. Does a brake also work as a silencer, as I'd want to be able to have experience shooting a silenced rifle. Also, is the tasco a good scope? I was thinking that maybe I should sell the scope I bought on ebay to buy some tactical gear if this rifle's scope is good.

Thanks to everyone for your help. ONE SHOT, ONE KILL!

just my 2 cents

What is this C7 lrt in 7.62 that you speak of? How long has it been in the system? Any pics?

I may be misinformed or just mistaken, but isn't the C7 a .5.56?
It's a descendant of the Mm16, no?

I looked once to see if the McMillian was on the prohibited list like the Barrett, and the answer is: not yet.

I remember reading elsewhere that the rounds that Rod Furlong used in the McMillian actually came from american snipers, and without it the McMillian was significantly less accurate.
Other places, talking about 1000m competitions, I've read that most (all?) do their own reloading to get their rounds identical/predictable.

Hi, some good information on Furlong can be found in his CBC interview:

Do you just google and post it all on here when you are done?? Do you have A.d.d? Are you 12? Have you been playing lots of video games lately?? Can you even legally own a "sniper rifle?? Maybe you should go to toys-r-us and get a tacticool nerf gun.

best scope, NXS or S&B..... best rifle, one custom built to suit your needs and your expected loads and performance, cartridge I would guess 338 lapua for bang for the buck with easy to find components.

realistically a good custom rifle can cost as little as $3k, or as much as $10k..... scopes figure $1800 - $4500.

Hi, what is the specific rifle, cartridge and scope that is winning the long range shooting competitions these days?

Thank you,

SIB :D

Be patient, young Pedawan. Your answer will be revealed in the next "Halo" installment to be released. Only then will you discover the path to enlightenment.
