Most Quickiest and Accurate Powder measure?

got my chargemaster from natchez like alot of people

I used to use a powder measure to get close, but then trickle it up on a digital scale to get them all the same, but since i got the chargemaster all that stuff is just collecting dust.

so benchrest winners dont weigh their charges? I weigh em all, target or hunting loads. I guess thats just what I've always done

i weigh for load develpment. once i have the load set, i just drop. I couldn't believe it when i saw the bench rest guys just dumping in it out of rcbs measures but there ya go!

Me too! The best powder measure bar none. Mine are the old US made orange ones and I think that those new black ones are made in China (?) Are they?

Hmm. I don't know about the black ones. I thought they were just a lower model or somethiing, but it doesn't matter to me, mine are the orange ones as well!:D

Powder MEASURES

I had to send my Chargmaster back to RCBS as it packed it in, $45 \US + shipping RCBS sent me a new unit. Good luck if you think you can use a Chargemaster loading small cartridges like 223 rem and not have lots of vertical in your groups at long distances best I have been able to do with old or new one was +or- 2 to 3 tenths grs.yes I would get a couple dead on but way to many are off
Checking with a $300+ digital scale, my old Lyman balance scale M5 is way more accurate.

If you want a powder thrower that works great, look for a old orange Lyman with a culver insert, it will throw ball powder dead on if your carefull using same stroke. These where what benchrest shooters used a few years back, I have seen them on Benchrest central & ebay they go for $200 +
One on left is a original without culver insert.

so manitou are you saying that its the scale portion that is not consistent? I dont have too many to compare to but I thought mine was working pretty well. I dont shoot any competition though, so I am sure its close enough. the smallest cartridge I reload for is 6br and its just for playin around.

I maybe should have said on the RCBS Chargemaster that when using stick powders it is not very accurate from 1 to 3 tens grains out. I have never used it on ball powders, I always use the #55 lyman with culver insert, it may just work fine. If the scale controls the unite to stop dispencing then its probably the scale of the chargemaster.
I shoot F class and 2 tens grain makes big problems in 223 at 1000 yards. Even a .308win at 1000 1/10gr means 3.5 " so if your out 3/10grs thats out of bull into a 4 at 1000

alright so I take it you are talking about the actual dispensing, not the accuracy of the scale on the unit. if so I agree, I find with the stick powders it tends to have a problem on the last few tenths. however I think the scale is at least as accurate as the other ones I have used.

I have not checked it against a high end scale as I do not have access to one though

My Lyman DPS dispenses pretty good with the stick and ball powders, maybe 1 in 100 its throws a heavy charge, just dump it back in and do another one. The fine flake powders need the bushing installed in the dispensing tube to slow it down. Quite happy with it, had it for about 4 years, no issues with 6 or 7 thousand rounds loaded.

Lyman 55 my first measure, got it from my grandfather:) but any of those are great units, it's really kinda hard to screw up a powder measure.

I have a LEE and and RCBS, I have sort of a problem with each one. The LEE works great with large grain powder like RE15 or H4350, H4831sc etc but fine powder like H335 leaks out the sides of the cylinder. The RCBS works great with H335 but delivers very inconsistent loads and feels like it almost jammes on the kernels of larger powders.

I have had and used most of the measures that are on the market and my experience is that the Redding match one is the best. Just my 2 cents worth.

Graydog

X2 I'm pretty happy with my Redding, better than the RCBS I used to use.

Almost all powder throwers will chop large grain extruded powder, and it doesn't tend to throw quite as well. I still use the thrower for speed and make sure I weigh and adjust every load thrown. Still far faster than any oother way I have tried and a chopped kernel or two is no big deal.

I don't know.... to me it sounds like an oxymoron quick and accurate in the same sentence. I'm kind of the opposite, I do each load manually, working my loads equal down to the last kernel. Since doing that I've had strings go through my chronograph with a 2fps ES. I couldn't believe my eyes..

I'm one of those OCD loaders though

Personally I'm wary of rushing my powder charges as they are a huge component in internal ballistics so why rush it?

But if you still do want to try to marry the oxymoron words then I've heard good things about the chargemaster combo.

Chargemaster combo here. So far quite happy.
Keep it away from anything with static in it (fabrics) and make sure to level the unit before use. I've also heard that turning it on for a bit before use can be helpful.
