Most reliable semi auto .308 rifle?

My two LRB M25 are my reliable 30 caliber cannon. I'm leaning toward ATRS modern hunter but haven't put enough round to judge their reliability yet.

XCRM was incredible reliable and the accuracy was pretty good.
Famea 542 was reliable, but it was a minute of barn gun unless using handloads with enough power to bruise my cheek

both my M305's #### the bed, both need new barrel and bolts after a couple hundred rounds. Soft metal and all.

RFB was a flaming pile of garbage,
it bent its own parts, jammed all the time, had the accuracy of a musket. by the time i got it "sorted out" it had sucked all the fun out of owning it.... and it still wasn't great or even ok at anything. having to shoot 50 rounds of a "new type" of ammo to dial in the gas system was a pain, to much gas it broke parts, to little it jammed. I still maintain those that say they just set the gas system and forget it... probably haven't shot it a lot; haven't discovered the horror of what happens after a few hundred rounds of being over gassed.

If you want a semi 308 that's reliable and accurate then get a Browning BAR. They are 1350$ and a sure thing. If you are looking for a actual hunting rifle that will give you repeatable accuracy, for ethical kills stay away from Military rifles.

I mean no offence, but a BAR will not be as reliable as most military designs.

Have you actually fired anything from the military? They kinda suck.... I mean they are fun, and I can see the draw to them for people not in the military, but I like to keep my fun guns away from the field.

Hate to shoot my next buck in the guts, just because I'm stubborn and want to justify a military based firearm purchase.

That’s terrible. I left mine on the factory setting and shot all manner of ammo with no real problems of any kind. Made a witness mark for take down. Shot surp, steel case, handloads, hunting loads, even 110gr Noveske, thing ran like a top, I don’t think it ever jammed on me once... now that I think of it I kinda miss it. Sorry that you had such a rough time with yours though, sucks to get a lemon. Was it a hunter or an 18” version?

its hard to beat a bar in 06 or 308 keep it clean find some nice warm wood use some hotter factory 150 gr loads...these guns will shoot for you...2 min of angle red dot or hunting peep sight and bobs your uncle....you will enjoy the nice lighter handy rifle...good luck

You could say I have some experience with military 7.62x51 firearms, yes. Both the civilian copies and the originals. Like 20+ years worth in all sorts of conditions.

If you were not able to get performance out if an FAL or M14 in good repair, they I humbly suggest you were doing it wrong. These platforms owned the podium all over the world for decades and are often designed to last 30,000 full power rounds or more before needing major repair work.

The service life of a BAR is under 10,000 rounds and it's not made to take abuse.

Its a decent gun as commercial semi autos go, but it's not as reliable as a gun that has passed all the tests at Aberdeen. Its just not. Sorry.

He likely had a gen1 gun. My gen 1 was a turd, but my gen2 never gave me any issues at all.

Valmet hunter .308 in its stock form is ok for hunting, and an AK action is reliable.

Then you can start modding it!
