"Mountain" 8x57 load

Bearhunter why are you not a fan of Privi bullets?

I put a 196 grain privi 8mm through the top/side of a small (ish) boar's scapula through to the ball of the shoulder on the offside. Lots of damage but that is expected with that shot placement.
D(ish)RT

Bullet exited, and you definitely knew that it did

I found a little bit of jacket in the offside hide nut that was it.
Conor, I find Privi bullets sometimes won't expand at all or expand to much, and are often very inconsistent accuracy wise from lot to lot.

I went through a lot of them, and wasn't satisfied with their consistency enough to trust them on a hunt, where an animal could easily be lost or worse wounded and get away.

It's just my personal experience with them. Your rifle may shoot them very well and you've been lucky enough they perform well.

If you're happy with them, by all means keep using them. Better stock up soon, because they won't be sending them to North America any more, after Putin called them out.

I have a 700 Remington in 8x57JS. Pet loads are 185 Remington PSPCL, the 196 Oryx, and the 200 Accubond.
W760 is a winner for all these bullets, as is Vihtavuori N150 and Norma 203b. Regards, Dave.
I exclusively shoot bullets weighing close to 200 grains from my 8x57JS hunting rifles, no boat tails, flat base round nose or spire points only.

Velocities are around 2600fps and accuracy is great, as is performance on game.

W760/H414, are my go to powders, over CCI250 magnum primers. VVN150/N550 are good as well.

VVN160 gave great accuracy but velocities were around 2400fps and I wanted "more"
