What about the Warne? Am I looking for medium/high/extra-high?
Do any of these options use 'recoil lugs' on the top of the receiver?
Pretty sure Warne quit making mounts for sako's years ago. My favorite sako mount was Warnes Premier line. Anyways, for current production go with Sako ringmounts (not 2 piece optilocks) or Leupold, niether uses bases and thats what you want. After all, why use a base on a rifle with integral bases?
I used the Leupold Ringmounts on my Sako rifles.
...The optilok ring mounts would be the best option if u could actually find them...
What cal's?
223rem, and my friends 270WSM.
Thanks. I've seen them on a .338RUM, and have a set on my .338wm, seem to hold there own.
Optilock ringmounts do, not sure if Warne does.
If you plan on keeping the rifle for a long time, I'd pony up for the optilock ringmounts.
I actually tried the optilocks, but with the built in recoil lug, I couldn't move the ring forward enough to obtain proper eye relief. With the Leupold ringmounts, it wasn't an issue.
Maybe you had the wrong bases if you went with the Optilock r&b setup.
I have Leupolds on all my Sako and Tikka rifles....no issues with scope mount or eye relief.
