MRA renegade and Spectre ballistics builds

Another Renegade build this time with a MRA 6.5 Grendel no gas port 20" barrel. This rifle has the Eclipse Hyperfire trigger and a gen 2 Magpul ### and A2 buffer tube.

Now there is the type of build I think could start getting me more interested in completing my receiver set. Gotta admit I've been having a hard time getting enthused but... your build has me curious now.

It would be very interesting to see if the single shot action has any increase in accuracy potential over a semi auto action. Could make for an interesting long range target rifle?

Also curious if you just used a regular receiver end plate and did a bit of fitting to get the A2 tube and PRS stock to fit that good?

And I have the same Diamondhead handguard. Did the anti-rotation tabs need fitting as well?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you are required to remove the tabs.

Here is one with the tabs from a Diamondhead which I have in stock.

Here are the end plates and you can see the indent at the bottom which needs to be removed along with the buffer tube tab. I used an old off coloured one for a prototype. Once the indent is removed the alignment tab on an A2 fits right in, but you need to align it yourself and possibly with heavy use it may rotate. I am working on another solution to ensure the alignment is more permanent. Maple Ridge is working on an end plate which they have said should be out shortly.

I went to the range today with this build but was stormed out. I thought I could fireform some 7.62x39 for the Grendel loads and chickened out, man was it raining sideways.

These gas gun barrels are accurate in these receivers and achieve higher velocities without the gas bleed. Having said that I have reduced the powder charges to compensate for some overpressures signs.

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to hearing what kind of accuracy you get from it.

And on a side note... I wouldn't say you chickened out. Nobody in their right mind would stay out in that weather we got hit with today.

Here's mine. Mostly Norinco CQA bits except for the furniture which is a mix of stuff. It's currently missing a safety selector as the Norinco one wouldn't fit in the hole. It was way too large. I ordered a different one which will hopefully fit.

Has anyone experienced and fitting issues or surprises with the builds ? Thanks !

I found that the upper and lower fit together really tightly. I struggled to pull them apart when I first received it and took it out of the box. A light stoning of the lugs fixed that. Also, some of the parts off the Norinco CQA donor were problematic. I had to sand down the edges of the mag release to get it to fit and the safety selector was too large and didn't go in. Otherwise it all went together in a straightforward manner.

Safety smafety.... who needs it ;). What grip is that ?

Finally a decent day for the 6.5 Grendel which was fed Hornady 100gr and 110gr's. I had acceptable 100M groups with the 110s pushed with H335 but think I will attempt 120 or 130s next with H322.
