I applied quality grease over gun oil to the metal on metal sliding parts. Be sure to apply some to the metal pins in the charging handle to avoid them getting stuck.

I think what's causing the issue is the “teeth” at the end of the bolt, is not aligning properly into the grooves at the start of the barrel, causing my problem. I thought it was lubrication, but I’ve applied more oil and no improvement. It's just slop in the bolt. When I cycle it hard back and forth 20-30 times, you can smell the heat up / friction so I'm guessing it's just a machining issue
 
See how there is a shallow trough the bolt catch sits in. This is a 2.0 in the photo. From the outside of an assembled renegade you can't tell.
2.1 has a a fence front and rear of the trough which supports the actual bolt catch (not the ping pong paddle) so it doesn't put all the load on the little pivot screw.

Boondock Saints evaluation of 6 mm Max vs ARC makes it sound like Max may work with no bolt change:
. Would the 6 Max extract better from the Renegade then 6 ARC or Grendel , and still provide enough improves energy to humanely harvest white tails?
 
I installed a Triggertech safety selector in a Renegade. Was a very tight fit, needed an hour of foreplay to open up.
The trigger job was a breeze in comparison.

I can't figure out that receiver "snug" screw (under the grip). Tighten it enough to do anything and the rear takedown pin won't slide. Back it off to allow takedown and too much receiver slop.
