I am sure that the rcmp will classify it as a varient of the steyr aug..We may have a slight chance, but I think the chances are very slim! They will not allow us to have rpd because they are too close to an ak! They have totally different locking systems.. I would love to have a vector semi rpd? but it is not to happen..

Look at the VZ58s though. They got in here and they're a "terrorist rifle"!!

I hope you guys are correct but I a not going to hold my breath. I should have purchased an aug when I had a chance.. but money was not as plentiful back then. (I only had one job)........

it all comes down to how the manifacturer represent the product in his litterature and what they will say when RCMP ask. if they keep a straignt line that its not a variant then its not

They're Canadian friendly and will do their part with our govt. The SIG556 was marketed as a sig variant for the U.S populace who were shy of sig like rifles. They appealed to the American populace and couldn't really have cared less about us. It's was business ethics and the smart thing to do.

And a pretty crappy package overall.

Since when? I'm sure this could be challenged.

You do realize that SPAS-12 shotguns were confiscated from people for being featured in a computer video game (Half Life).

 Benelli made the Spas 12 shotguns :bsFlag: try Franchi and yes your time line sucks:p

If the forward assist makes it one step further away from a variant, then I say why not ! I must admit the bolt catch looks like a bruise waiting to happen - but the developers are shooters too, so it can't be as bad as it looks. These guys are working very hard to avoid this being labelled as a clone, we can only hope they're succesfull. The more firearms of this type that are available, the more choices we all have.

as far as the SPAS goes, all I have to say is " Gun Digest Book of Assault Weapons "

The RPD isn't allowed because it's full-auto. It's not prohibited by name.

As for this thing being called an AUG variant, who knows. We can only hope it will get classed like the Swiss Arms rifles or the VZ58's.

Their literature makes no reference to the AUG and that is half the battle.

Well, you get the jist, I was trying make the point that they banned it based on appearance, how can you reason with them?

Okay
