MSAR STG-556 Any News?

I don't think it'll be that bad. Look at Robarm. How many times did they say "2 more weeks" to XCR customers?
If they manage to release the first few runs without any problems, it should be fine. Microtech gets huge props for the build quality of their knives and hopefully that quality will pass onto the rifle, but their customer service is said to be beyond horrible.

I've only read this second hand, but supposedly there's another "2 week" delay, and they've recalled the few rifles that have already been delivered...something about the bolt carrier.

Great pics Scotty, I have serious case of AUG Envy. Are you in the States? Judging from the other toys I would guess so. What are your impressions of it.

Is the Green AUG an original? If so how do they compare?

Yeah, the green one's an original. AUG's were nice but they were just so damn expensive. In the 80's a new AUG cost around$1,500. But i'd love to get an STG-556 before Hillary gets in office next year. How much do they cost, Scotty?

No, I live outside of Toronto. :D I robbed those pictures from a thread on ARFCOM, its in the Armoury > General Firearms Discussion and in the "Official MSAR STG-556 Update Thread" but the forums are currently broken, so use this link to view the thread when they start working.

From the reviews people have been saying they are great, one guy said he was taking his out this evening to the range and would post back later this evening with a full report.

There are a couple models they are shipping, thats the Limited Edition with matching knife with serial number ect ect, I think they were $2,400 before yesterday and now the prices are going up. They are making lots of these in OD, Tan and Black and soon after they are doing a longer 20" barrel IIRC. Lots of details in that thread when the forums start working. They went from making 25 a week to 25 per day and are shipping out 200 per week if my memory serves me correctly. They made 3 production runs of 600 and are shipping out 103-600 as 101 and 102 were used for testing after they found out about the bolt issues, which was a reason for alot of recalls on the rifles.

Is any one planning to try to bring these suckers in?

We recently looked at bringing them in. But, I doubt it will make it past the FRT boys. It shares all the major parts with the AUG. Bolt, barrel, trigger group, etc are interchangeable. They are even stating you can use your registered FA AUG trigger group. They originally said it only looked like an AUG, but was mechanically different.

We're in the process of having one imported and submitted to RCMP's Firearms Support Services Directorate for classification.

We expect it will be classified as "Prohibited" but who knows... maybe we'll get a pleasant surprise.

Questar,
I trust you'll let us know right away when the decision comes in? :)
I'm not holding my breath, but it is a very cool rifle. I'd like to get one.

Even if RCMP classify the firearm as "Restricted" and "Non-Restricted" I think it's doubtful that US State Department will approve export to civilian end-users... but who knows. We've gotten permits for other stuff that we didn't expect would get approved.

This whole process will take a while but once we get some definitive answers we'll let you know via our website.

Sounds good Questar.
While I'm hoping they will allow these in, I'm fairly sceptical.

Either way it's a win win for me. At least that's how I like to look at it. If they let them in I'll get one so I win. If they don't, my credit card won't explode :D so financially I also win.

Hey why not?! It's a hunting rifle! Stock is fixed, no pistol grip, telescopic sight, only evil feature is the flash hider.
