Long story short..got drawn for mulies down south and hunted for 6 days during the muzzleloader season and was too fussy then went back at the beginning of rifle for another 5 days and on the last day at 3:00 I shot this wide guy. I passed up way bigger but the 200" never came around and this is how my hunt ended. Not the one I was hoping for but I had a great time and got my first critter with my 338 Fed (235 yrd shot). Not my first animal but my first with this rifle. Grossed 155
Sorry about the ugly picture..This is my whitetail (again with the 338 fed). I hate to say it but I made a poor shot. I hit him really low and only found hair where I shot him. Very little blood (like I mean a drop then nothing for 20 yrds then another and so on. Then nothing.. found him the next day, thanks to the ravens. (Thus the bird crap all over the horns) The shot was only 160yrds but.. I don't know
. It really bothered me to walk away but he never really bled or showed signs of a good hit. From what the rib cage looked like, I hit low in the brisket and the second last rib was broke on both sides right on the brisket.
He grossed 170 6/8.
Please don't hack me about the shot...I've beaten myself up about it already
