Muzzle Devices for 5.56mm/.223 indoor shooting.

The 5.56 isn’t gonna rip your shoulder off. Be courteous to the other range members and don’t put a brake on a rifle that doesnt even recoil.

If this isn't a fudd take I don't know what is...

OP take a look at the griffin flash comp, very effective in both regards.

I still use my Griffin Armament quick detach, no tools required, blast shield. Back in the days of 3 gun, I would toss it on for any stage were we had to shoot prone, modified prone. So nice not to have a blast of dirt and sand in the face. Directs all the gas forward. If you have the range to yourself, leave it off. When someone shows up, put it on.

You covered all the reasons I got a blast shield when they first came out, they are a great option to have.

A first impressions report after a few range trips with the EFAB over the past few months:

Virtually zero muzzle flash. Like... none. Occasionally you will see a few little bright sparks fly off to the side. (the Taipan X barrel length is 16.5", just for reference).

Sound/concussion on either side when shooting is just a tiny bit more than when using just the threaded barrel end cap that comes with the Taipan X. Honestly it's hard to notice the difference unless you're expecting/listening for it.

Obviously since it's a pump action there's no real issue with barrel rise that you might get with rapid fire semi-auto anyway, but it feels nicer to shoot. It was primarily a cosmetic decision to put an EFAB on the Taipan X, but if my currently prohibited semi-auto 5.56mm rifle become legal at my range again, I'm moving the EFAB over to that rifle pronto!

so i take it you didn't try any of the linear compensators?
have been watching for a review
I don't have a tonne of disposable income to be able to try multiple different compensators just to test them, but I appreciate the question!

I'm sure there are better reviews out there, but I can say that in my experience, it reduced felt recoil by a noticeable, if relatively small, amount, and pretty much completely eliminated muzzle flash. The concussion and noise to adjacent shooters was not increased to any remarkable degree I felt - I asked two other shooters in adjacent lanes and they agreed that it didn't seem noticeably louder than a A2 or thread protector cap.
