In December I narrowed my 2 rifles down to the MVP and Hog Hunter but opted for the time proven Savage design. As I don't hunt game I opted for .223 so I could get lots of varmint shooting in.
Anyways my point is with the hollow stock I added a bit of lead shot to balance it out and used expanding foam even and epoxied a rod into the front area under the free floated barrel. Even with a cheap poly stock it completely changed the feel and is more rigid.
I need much better glass (clone off my kids .22)and lower QD mounts (on the way) to get the optics lower so I can also take advantage of the heavy all metal beefy sights as well.
So have fun as I just love how these short beefy rifle designs feel.
Just getting started but looks like a tack driver even with the short beefy barrel.

no because the M14 mag was designed for an M14 since its semi auto and no pistol mag exists BOOM 5 round limit, now the Elander 10 rounds mags are not built for the m14 but for the AIA 303 clone chambered in 308 and the mags fit in an M14 but because the mags are different physically (minor difference but still different) they are legal as they are not designed for the rifle, but still fit and function in itWhat is the mag capacity limit for bolt actions ?
The MVP Patrol got me thinking.... since it takes M14 mags couldn't we un-pin em and use a 20 rounders in this bolt action? Or is 10 the limit for bolts? Never looked it up.

Thanks for the pics randyhub. Good job on the stock mods. I'm looking at same two rifles for a "truck gun". When honest with myself the only two things I like about the MVP over the Hog Hunter are the detachable mag and the slightly shorter barrel. Everything else I prefer about the HH. So.... might just have to add a detachable mag to HH and possibly get the barrel shortened to 18.5. I'd also do similar stock mods because I see how they would improve it.
Thanks found the heavier 20" barrel just the right combination for length and ballistics. I may one day convert the bottom metal to take a detachable magazine but frankly being a bolt action and holding 5 rounds I just keep topping up the box magazine. I have read many hunters complaining the longer magazines dig into them when slinging the rifle.
My biggest concern was the bolt design of the MVP with the cartridge pick up part of the bolt and the plastic front sight, just looked somewhat flimsy but that is just me being critical.
I did notice when shooting continuously even with the fixed mag everything heated up fast which effected my accuracy so most likely will just stay with a fixed mag.![]()
Well I put on my new LSS Chassis onto my MVP Patrol 308 it looks pretty sweet and feels so solid.

How much weight did this drop off your MVP? I haven't had a chance to bring my MVP to the range or bush yet but I do think it feels a bit heavy compared to some of my other guns when I bring it up to my shoulder. Wouldn't mind dropping the weight if possible or at least shifting the center of gravity a bit to the rear. I put it on my bathroom scale and with the factory utg scope it came in at 8.3 lbs(not sure how accurate that number is given it's a bathroom scale).
Ya all I have is a bathroom scale too it says mine weighs 9.8 lbs so not sure how accurate that is tho and that is without the bipod and magazine and ammo of course. But that stock makes the gun feel so solid it totally changes how it feels no question about that. and the MDT buttpad is just awesome I fired off 50 rounds tonight and my shoulder is perfect not even a hint at being sore. Shooting the stock rifle my shoulder was definitely hurting after my first shooting session with it. I HIGHLY recommend the MDT buttpad![]()
Well, I sure like the way your stock looks in the pictures. Was it pretty straight forward to install? ie. Did you need to modify anything or did you just bolt it on?
