My 12g shot gun is now prohibited for turkey and already got my tag

When I see it in government ink that an 870 duck gun is prohibited, I’ll believe it, hearsay is an embarrassment and unfortunately what the antis do. We should do better.

I would hope something started with info from CSAAA is more than hearsay - if its not i may have to rethink my donations.

I just want to know the truth, there is such a lack of clarity with this and maybe that is the point - less clarity gives them a wide birth for future 'interpretations"

And if they ban semi-auto "black" duck guns like a Benelli SBE, would that be any better than banning a Wingmaster?

There may be a lot of hearsay and misinformation, but it's getting the attention of those who throw AR owners under the bus, so in my view that's a good thing.

I think it was heavily and artfully twisted misinformation, the choke tube prohib thing, and for the greater good or not I find that irritating as it’s so transparent to see through. But like I said in my first reply about it, appears maybe it worked, I just don’t like the method.

Angus, there is still now 12 ga shotgun that are starting to be ban ... as of today not your 870 but wait just a matter of time, what will stop them? i can be fear mongering but this is happening you may not care because ar15 is not your thing but soon guns will not be our thing anymore ...

You’re taking it the wrong way Phil, I’m all for the guys who enjoy the black guns and have dabbled plenty myself. I like that they hold the line further from the sporting arms too, but I really can’t stand when our own side knowingly spreads obvious misinformation which is regurgitated in a telephone game. Makes us no better than the antis.

No, the 870 is not going to be prohibited, I can tell you that right now. Certain barrel lengths of 870 I can absolutely see not that I support it, but the 28” 870 duck gun is not going prohib.

So what is the exact definition of a duck gun? It seems a Typhoon 12 in your opinion is not a duck gun but a 870 is? Why?
Now you are starting the barrel length discussion. So a 14 inch shotgun that can easily be carried in a kayak for duck hunting is not a duck gun either?

So that 24" barrel 20gauge youth shotgun my kids are using isn't a duck gun either? Get a grip buddy you sound like one of them antis with your fuddy interpretations.

Again, I’m all for black gun fun, have enjoyed them plenty myself, and like that they keep the line further away.

I’m not at all for BS spread by our own side to dupe Joe Farmer into getting panicked, based on purposefully spread misinformation. Yep, that’s what the antis do, but our side ought to do better. Choke tubed 12 gauges and 870 duck guns are not prohibited.

Believe it or not this doesn’t make me an anti and you’re going to struggle to convince me I am. And again all the best to you.

And success in volume is a kind of an Outfitter phrase/mindset in my opinion. The more the better eh, equals all to $$. Some guys are happy with a bird or two shot with a legal tool they had at hand.

No, volume means show me a Typhoon 12 is a common duck gun, volume as in common usage. A dozen different guys in blinds with one duck each is enough. You specifically were enquiring on what a duck gun means in general. Do I think you can kill ducks with a Typhoon 12? No question. Will the voting masses we need to sway see it that way? #### no.

Instead we should focus on showing 3 gunners and the like are regular people, school teachers, tradespeople, pilots and cops amongst those I know. It’s a way smarter plan that has a chance. And again, wish you the best.

So a gun needs to be "common" in numbers to qualify as a duck gun? Well that is a good way to see it.

In this case all uncommon custom guns for expensive which a blue collared worker cannot afford are no duck guns either?

Btw. Are there any official statements of the guide and outfitter associations against the gun ban and what are they doing to help fighting this?

More than most bickering on forums, though I can sense somehow by default you’re going to take offence. ;)

After working in that industry, seeing their practises and hearing their opinions on modern hunting and sporting rifles, I rather laugh at it than taking offense.

So where is the above indeed great fudd man cave pinup made public and what are their actions?
