Go with the best, if you can afford it. I mean, what's the point of buying a Lada when you can afford a Lamborghini?

I just got my first AR, too. I was going for a Stag but held back because it was still too much money for me. Enter Questar to the rescue! I got myself a brand new CMMG for about $1,250 delivered. This rifle is as nice as it gets for a "standard" run-of-the-mill AR, and way worth the $200 premium it cost me over a Norinco (not a Norco hater by the way, I own 3 of their handguns and a SKS and like them a lot).

The only thing I don't like about my CMMG is the trigger, IT IS HORRENDOUS! I never expected that in a rifle which costs over $1000. I mean, even my Norinco SKS has a better trigger, and up until now I considered it to have the worst trigger of all my guns!!!! Other than that, I like it. Just fired the first 100 rounds, through 5 different mags, this past weekend with 100% reliability.

The heart of the AR is the quality of BGC, gas tube, barrel and LPK. If the rifle breaks down, it is because one of these things suck.

The small parts are always being overlooked. The pin, the bolts or the heat treatment of your discconntor are little things that make you AR go down.

Guys have no problem dropping hundreds on Magpul or LMT stocks, Troy or KAC rails and then buy the cheapest LPK they can find? A definite case of being penny wise and pound foolish.

the extractor is redesigned with dual spring with different leverage point, and the cam pin is thinner. The lugs and the bolt interface at a radial chamfer instead of a 90'd angle.

i have not stopped shooting my XCR. but when i had questions about my flash hider, or things that i was not in total comprehension of, all i wanted to know was answered, fully, promptly,and personally. can anyone really say that about their firearm's manufacturer?
