My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

The measurement is actually right on the edge of the smear but it's hard to show in a picture. There is 0.200" taken off for bullet diameter. It is a 100% factory rifle and there rifles on the list that range from $400 to thousands of dollars so lots of rifle options. The black squares on the target are 1/2" so it'll make a 1/2" group no matter how you want to measure it. My smears actually measure 0.230" so I could take that number off for my center to center measurement instead of the 0.200" if you would like and actually bring the numbers down further.

it would be good to have a similar thread with only Factory rifles or even Cost categories. I'm a fair shot but I don't have $2000 to spend on a rifle OR $20/box of ammo so most of these threads are only good for gleaning 'tips' - not possible outcomes in my life.[/QUOTE]

I get what your saying,I'm trying it with a 300 dollar savage and sk standard, and have been trying this for 3 weeks now and have found my mechanics getting better as well as my groups, its forcing me to bare down.ive weighed my ammo and I'm getting close.i am in the process of getting center x,and will see what happens.if in a few months I cant get it done I will upgrade my rimfire because hell or high water I will do it.and if and when I upgrade I will have learned alot.

There's a few savages on the list so they are definitely capable of it (at least some are). That's the great thing with rimfire accuracy shooting is it definitely makes you work on your fundamentals as I find they are not very forgiving.

Ya the sk guy from Ottawa,he took a few cracks at it and did it.plus a few others that I cant remember because it was a while ago when I read all 200 pages lol.what I really like is my 20x scope pulling the target right in and watching it hit,you become mesmerized. Its like tick tock, tick tock are maybe not.

Okay been out twice in last 3 days Monday was a calm manitoba wind at about 10 mph good as your going to get in these parts.i shot sk standard and eley club and my average group was .595 out about 30 groups, only 3 were less then .5,I'm using savage mark 2 and 6.5x20 viper with bipod and rear bag.ive tried now about 20 times and I'm waiting for other ammo to test(shipping costs break my heart)but I'm wondering how you know the rifle cant do it or the rifle can and you can't.i can't cheek weld for very long because of health and not sure how big a thing that is.but I don't mind spinning my wheels in the mud for a bit,but soon or later I want to hit some solid ground.like I said I will upgrade my gun,but only if I have to.

I have a B22 with about 2-300 rounds so far. I can get some groups under 1/2" but usually 4-shots around 1/2 w-a flier for #5. I have some 'old stock' CCI-SV and Fed Champion 40gSV (Blue/silver/white box) that do the best, with SK+ as close. Just got a 'better' scope (6-24x50 Covenant-4) and need more rounds to get the zero dialed in. It's been pretty windy here in NB this past month. Hoping it will settle down as Summer progresses.

Your barrel is not broke in should get better,it sounds like the b22 is an accurate firearm, they were quite cost efficient if I recall.but it takes alot of concentration. Something I lack with a slew of other things.

Yep, still working on my 'focus' too. The rifle is very good for $340+tx(B22-FV) - my scope cost $450+tx. HA! One lucky thing is I had beginning glaucoma and cataracts, so got corneal replacements. But I use reading glasses to see the reticle better. Then off to use the spotting scope ^O^ I found some multi-colored 'sticky dots' at the Dollar store that are 3/4" - this is the cheapest way to have a consistent target POA. With the x24 scope they are easy to see even at 100yds. A few hundred for a dollar - just the cost of paper to stick them on. I've been just using a front bag, but also have a Group Therapy sled that may help a bit more. I've polished all the 'innards' of the action and have the trigger around 2# or less (no pull gage- just luggage scale & canned goods) with the 'de-tempered' trigger spring. I'm also going to try a Limbsaver barrel dampener that some others have found helpful. Just waiting for weather now, Spring is unstable around here.

First up was Savage mk11 bgtv with boyds thumbhole stock,6.5x20x44 vortex viper,sk standard plus, firefield bipod and protector rear bag.at 50yds.i also did it twice with a tikka tx1.interesting story about tikka,I received it Friday and put an athlons btr ares 4.5x27 and went to the range saturday.i took 4 shots with federal automatch to zero scope then the next 50 shots were the two targets above first was center x next was sk rifle match.unfortunately I cant down load pictures with my particulars, the wife did it with the two tikka targets and since then I cant repeat the process,so I'm not going on the list until I figure it out.

Hey guy, I'm more than happy to submit the entry for my Walther KK UIT Spezial.

Between me and this rifle, it has been a love/hate relashionship over the last 1.5 years.

I failed the 1/2 challenge by .005 to .010 inches many times ( like 5-6 times ).

Finally made it today !
It was a beautiful sunny day with almost no wind.

It took some thinkering with the action screws and ammo sorting but I made it, Yay !

Rifle : Walther KK UIT Spezial ( 1970 )
Ammo : SK Rifle Match
Mystic Precision bipod and Protektor rear bag
Scope : vintage Leupold M8 24x

Best group : .222
Average : .315

Group sizes : .386 / .415 / .222 / .297 / .255

My best groups today was on another failed attempt...by .005 inch
So this rifle definetly have potential for sub 1/4 groups, maybe with more premium ammo...?

The weird thing on the last group at right is a ricochet from the guy at my right at the range. He was shooting at *spoon* style targets.

Another failed attempt a couple weeks ago... by 10 thousands of an inch !

This is the testing with action screws torque settings.
It was a windy day but it was clear that the rifle likes 25in/lb

Here's a few targets shot lately by Mrs. Allan Harris with her Bergara & "MY" new Vudoo:d

Bergara group sizes 373, 335, 365, 342, 326, 248, 488, 355 - Average 8X5 = 354

Vudoo group sizes 380, 324, 186, 246, 289, 227, 221, 375, 304, 301, 179, 209, 316 - Average 13X5 = 274. These groups were shot yesterday starting with a cold, clean bore & two lot numbers of SK Long Range

The Vudoo has only a handful of rounds through it but has run perfectly "out of the carton" and the 22" Bartlein will be a good shooter.
