My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

Our range is located in a notoriously windy area and we don't often shoot for groups with rim fire unless lot testing new ammo purchases. We always shoot 20X5's - 100 rounds gives a better indication of shot to shot consistency. Here's a target shot by my wife on May 4TH with a new lot number of SK Long Range - Lithgow LA101. Some here know me and are aware that we have been away from home for much of the past couple of years. This rifle has not left the safe in 7 months.
Group center to center measurements - 423, 339, 253, 437, 472, 383, 257, 355, 296, 309, 446, 416, 387, 298, 202, 270, 432, 183, 207, 299.
20 group average .333.

Nicely done, Eagleye. Except for the one group, those are remarkable results for a rifle without a barrel tuner. I'll bet a lot of shooters were thinking about this rifle when it was offered by Underthegun and are now regretting not saying "I'll take it." Excellent shooters aren't always easy to find. Of course, neither is the good ammo you have.

This lot of Eley Match EPS is remarkable. It has shot very
well in practically every 22 rimfire I have tried it in. I have
quite a bit laid in, so will be good for a while. Dave.

Excellent shooting and nice that a new purchase shines so bright rite off the get go. If you find yourself cramped for space i could help you and clear up the clutter by getting rid of some of that dusty old ammo HAHA. Just sayin

I can’t say I don’t regret selling that rifle just a little bit. Just didn’t have the time to try find the lot of ammo that it liked. Luckily you already had it. Absolutely amazing shooting. I added you to the successful list. Hopefully soon I’ll add you to the 1/4” club.
 
Going to get out early in the AM when it is quiet, with no wind and ideal
light conditions. This rifle really shoots!! I was thinking about putting a
Harrell's tuner on it, but am not sure how much I would gain. Dave.

Hi Glenn - That's the build I did for her with a match chambered Maddco. We used to have no time restrictions at that range but these days we have to shoot during "civilized" hours. There is usually a small window just after daylight when it's quite calm and we would be set up ready to go when ammo testing - Not allowed to do that any more! That rifle is capable of shooting 20X5's in the high .2's" with good lot numbers of Eley Match. My LA101 is pretty much stock except for re-crown, bedding & trigger work and will also do .3's" at 50 when the stars align! My Vudoo has finally arrived - Just waiting for TT Diamond from the US now.

My wife says "Thank-You" - I've been around guns for over 60 years and some of the best shooters I've seen are women - My wife picked up a rifle for the first time in 1974 & has learned a thing or two about using them since;)

Re the SK Long Range - I scored half a case several months ago - Starting to run low now and like you North Americans, we here in Australia are having trouble sourcing ammo - My dealer has no more LR as of last Friday - I did score a brick of Rifle Match - Shot a target with it this morning and will post results here later.
 
This morning I ran a test on a recently acquired lot of SK Rifle Match. I had not used this rifle since 28/12/20 and gave the bore a deep clean before storing. I used groups 1 to 4 to season the bore and make a couple of scope adjustments to place POI closer to the bull without destroying my aiming mark. There was a variable cross wind blowing east to west throughout the session - Caught me out a couple of times (groups 18 & 23)
I did not include group 1 in these measurements as this barrel takes a few rounds to settle after brushing so have listed below group sizes (center to center) from 2-25.
339, 278, 252, 279, 369, 216, 327, 256, 229, 271, 329, 343, 307, 182, 226, 320, 451, 253, 319, 290, 335, 274, 338, 269.
24 group average - .294"
EDIT: 25 group average .302" - Including Group 1 - .488".
Rifle used is an Anschutz 1761. I have posted a few details on this previously on this forum. Barrel is a TrueFlite Ultra Match from New Zealand. It has a match chamber & head spaced for SK/Lapua. Action has been epoxy & pillar bedded and the single stage trigger has been tuned and re-sprung to break cleanly at one pound.

Bring the V22S to the range on a relatively quiet Sunday morning without crazy wins for once.
