My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

I don't have dial calipers, just mastercraft digital. That'd be like 8 more pics showing the calipers what do you need it for?

Not to be a stick-in-the-mud, but this thread needs less about unsuccessful attempts. And shooters should remember that the entire target page must be posted, not only part of a target page that shows some nice groups.

Shot another qualifier with my Remington 40XB while testing Lapua Center X.
.252, .345, .412, .359 and .430 for an average of .3596".
The last one looked like it was the spoiler and I said something like "shucks" and carried on using the target.
While that would be a disqualifier, a little creative editing would hide the warts.

Nice work there Horseman.I would love to have a 40X in my hands one day!

I agree. This thread is starting to get derailed. You are more than welcome to post your failed attempts, but please post it as an attempt. No more single groups claiming that you are almost ready for the challenge.

Here is a reminder of the purpose and what's required for the post

Ok. Here it is. The challenge is to shoot 5 five shot groups with a 22lr at 50 yards/meters under 1/2"

Here are the requirements for the challenge:

You must use a 22 lr

There is no restriction on action type or cost of the firearm

You may use any 22lr ammo you wish

You must shoot five 5 shot groups at 50 yards/meters

All 5 groups must be under 1/2"

All 5 groups must be on the same paper

There cannot be any other groups on your "official" target

There cannot be anything on your target that could be hiding any group or bullet hole that is not part of your "official" attempt

All the attempts at the challenge must have been shot after the challenge was issued

Your post must include the following:

A pic of your rifle and the rest you used

A pic of your target with all 5 groups visible and the group sizes and group average written on the target

A pic of your smallest group with a set of calipers to verify the group size

Your rifle info

Your post must also have THE GROUP SIZES AND AVERAGE WRITTEN IN THE POST

Please put all your info into ONE POST. If you forgot anything please EDIT your post to include the missing info

ALL POSTS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED INFO OR I WILL IGNORE THEM UNTIL ALL THE INFO IS INCLUDED IN THE POST!!!!!

Most importantly, have fun and be safe.

I'm gonna have a crack at this. My new jw-25 was hitting two inch groups all day with the crappy eyes looking thru crappy irons. I'd bet my left nut it can do it with a scope when I find one.

I had a 1.5 inch group with thunderduds the other day in the wind. horizontally strung. i was having a hard time focusing too because my contacts were bugging me. my trigger pull is like 2 pounds. Its almost scary how light and crisp it is.

I am going to have to retract my bet of 1 left nut tho. Dont wanna be a one ball man with my pecker in my hand going to a rodeo. Ill bet my left shoe instead.

Can you post your attempt at the challenge please. This isn't a thread about how inaccurate your guns are.

Another reminder

Not an official attempt but a good result from an aluminum tape bedding experiment. That and the rifle just seems to keep improving with use. Groups 3-8 = a successful run so the rifle is now capable of this challenge. If shot as 1-5 and 6-10 it's still a double fail :( I did full glass bedding over the weekend and am going to the range tomorrow to test it out. Only bringing SK+ and rifle match with me as I'm not yet convinced it is ready to try Center-x, Midas + or X-act which I only have a couple boxes of. I still prefer to shoot 10 groups per target so I won't end up with anything I can officially post. Pending tomorrows results I may step up to the higher grade ammo on another trip and do some actual attempts at this.

Going to try my Savage fv sr and cz 452 sillouette next chance I get! Any experience with which ammo to use? Thanks

With all guns you have to try many brands and types to see what each gun likes. 2 identical guns will probably like different ammo. That said more expensive target ammo like RWS, SK or Eley will probably be more accurate, or at least have less flyers, than cheaper common ammo like Federal, Winchester or Remington. You have to buy a box or two of as many types as you can and keep trying them till you find the one your gun likes. Many threads on it on CGN, even lots of discussion on it right here in this thread so do some reading and learn, don't just ask for simple answers as there are none.
