My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

Well I was finally able to get it. Barely. This was the 4th attempt today and was ready to give up for the day. Rifle is Marlin M60 with Boyd's stock Mcarbo trigger kit, tasco 2.5-10x42 scope. Champion bipod and homemade sand bag for rear rest. Ammo was CCI standard velocity. Group sizes were .240. .287. .360. .415 and .475 for average of .355.

Congrats! Feels good to finally check it off the list, eh? :d Now you'll probably get addicted and start buying more rifles for the "challenge".... I know I did! Seeing you used a bi-pod, that may have contributed to the difficulties you were having since it takes much more effort on your part to keep consistent form and hold compared to using a solid rest. Extra applause for gettin' er dun with the pod.
 
It really seems to like any CCI ammo I've fed it. I got pretty lucky with the CCI SV as after asking in a previous thread about target ammo it was the one of the first suggested by RabidMU45 and others and happened to be the first stuff I cane across. It shot so well right off the bat, I never tried anything else.

Had been out a few times already trying this with no joy (3/5 groups under .5" tops). Went out today when it was quite a bit calmer, and put in a better effort, but still only getting 4/5 (blowing it on the 3rd group). Overall, pretty happy considering this is a bone-stock Savage Mk2 shooting SK Rifle Match, and its only a matter of time before I get that last group in there and join the list!

I've honestly never shot a 10/22 but i think the marlins accuracy comes from their microgroove rifling. That 60 is accurate and I had a 917V that was a tack driver. On a calm day with that hmr I could pick off empty 17 and 22 brass fairly consistently at 100 yards. With that 60 I used in the challenge I can hit the brass almost every shot at 50 yards.

The only real complaint I had about it when it was totally stock was the trigger. They are absolutely horrible. Don't have a scale but my guess is it was about 8-9 lbs and trigger blade itself was like a steak knife with the serrations. The mcarbo kit is great and cut the pull down to at least half. I modified the trigger by using jb weld in the serrations and sanding smooth. I am planning on ordering their target trigger shortly as well. Problem with the 60s compared to 10/22 is not near the aftermarket parts if you really want to do them up.
 
I had a good day at the range today. savagecanuck was kind enough to lend me his Anschutz MPR to try a few 1/2" Challenge groups. I shot about 8 targets (5x, 5 round groups each). When I got home I measure the best 3 targets and found that they all met the challenge. Using Lapua Centre-X I had 2 successful targets (avg group sizes: 0.388" and 0.372). Using Lapua X-Act the average was 0.262".

Rifle: Anschutz MPR
Scope: Vortex 6-24x
Rest: Gun club bench and Caldwell Rock Jr with Protektor bags
Ammo: Lapua X-Act
Groups: 0.319", 0.252", 0.331", 0.252", 0.152" (average: 0.262")
