'SD' is the Standard Deviation of the measurements. Standard deviation tells you how spread out the data is.

Yes, SD is the standard deviation for the group sizes. This is a really small data set (statistically a minimum of 30 5-shot groups would give a much better estimate), so lots of room for aberrations; but, if the SD is a good approximation of what it truly is, then we can take 2*SD and add and subtract from the group average to determine the upper and lower limit for a 95% confidence interval for group sizes I shoot with this rifle and ammo.
In this case (assuming the rifle, ammo, and me are consistent) I would expect 95% of my 5-shot groups to fall between 0.173" (avg - 2*SD) and 0.373" (avg + 2*SD). Looking at my groups, that last group at 0.358" had to be me getting sloppy and pulling (wind was dead calm by this point). I need to step up my game

Thanks, stewbud and jdac, for the SD info. I thought that's what it was but wasn't sure since there were only five groups.
Ammo consistency is one of the main problems. It seems even in Midas + there are at least one flier in every box, enough to screw up an otherwise promising target.

Inspired by Eagleye i decided to give the challenge a try this morning. I normally only shoot dots unless I’m testing ammo but thanks to Dave’s great shooting I had a go.

If you dont mind me asking, who put this rifle together?
I just picked up an older Anschutz 1416 with 22" barrel. This rifle was intended to be a hunting rifle for sniping look-out Sharptail grouse. In getting the Leupold VX-2 4-12X40mm AO zeroed with my standard hunting load, CCI Subsonic HP 40 grain, it became clear that this rifle/ammo combo was extremely accurate... I finished zeroing the scope at 50 meters and then put out a couple fresh targets and shot ten consecutive five shot groups... the two targets pictured below represent those targets. I will give this one another shot as I lost concentration on the final bull on both pages... I think it can do better, and I have 5K ammo from the same lot.

Glad to be an inspiration, TM. That is very fine shooting, indeed. I have no doubt that you will improve on that target soon.
I have been working on a "better" target than my last one with the Suhl. Several would make the ¼" mark, but so far no better
target, lol.
Congrats on the successful attempt. You now hold the record for smallest group shot.

The equipment/ammo was intended to be a hunting rig, I had no aspirations that it would shoot that well... I used 5 shot groups in zeroing the scope and shot many more extremely tight groups and while I did not measure them, they were surely in the one's... I shoot enough to know to get excited by a one holer... a lot of things have to come together for that to happen, many of those are out of our control. The shooting conditions yesterday were ideal, so that was an assist.
