My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

Okay, when the temps exceed 0C without the wicked windchill northern AB has been enveloped in for the last 12 days, I shall place a playing card at 50Ys and post.

and not under .5" but within...correction....

It's under 0.5" center to center I guess I should have said. One 5 shot group is way easier than 5-5 shot groups

Ok. Here it is. The challenge is to shoot 5 five shot groups with a 22lr at 50 yards/meters under 1/2"

Here are the requirements for the challenge:

You must use a 22 lr

There is no restriction on action type or cost of the firearm

You may use any 22lr ammo you wish

You must shoot five 5 shot groups at 50 yards/meters

All 5 groups must be under 1/2"

All 5 groups must be on the same paper

You must show the full sheet of paper (no cutting a strip off). If you are shooting a strip of paper you must show the before and after.

There cannot be any other groups on your "official" target

There cannot be anything on your target that could be hiding any group or bullet hole that is not part of your "official" attempt

All the attempts at the challenge must have been shot after the challenge was issued

Your post must include the following:

A pic of your rifle and the rest you used

A pic of your target with all 5 groups visible and the group sizes and group average written on the target

A pic of your largest group with a set of calipers to verify the group size

Your rifle info

Your post must also have THE GROUP SIZES AND AVERAGE WRITTEN IN THE POST

Please put all your info into ONE POST. If you forgot anything please EDIT your post to include the missing info

ALL POSTS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED INFO OR I WILL IGNORE THEM UNTIL ALL THE INFO IS INCLUDED IN THE POST!!!!!

This is a thread for 22 rifles only. Air rifles can post somewhere else.

When you guys shoot your groups at 50 yards, what magnification do you usually have your optic set on? All the way? In between? Just curious if there's an average answer

The more magnification, the better in this game. I did 1/4" with a fixed 45X Leupold competition. I've also done 1/2" with 9X, 18X, 24X, and 32X. Next goal is iron sights.

So I picked up a 16" t1x yesterday. It was a bit of an impulse buy although I had been somewhat searching for a decent bolt action 22. I wanted something to train my 9yo on other than one of my semi's to get him used to a hunting rifle. I put a 3200 5-15×40 scope on it that I had laying around to try it out. Shot a few rounds last night to check for function. This morning I wrung it out a bit better and put about 300 rounds of various ammo I have laying around. All bulk ammo with the best being cci mini mag and winchester dynapoint gt which is my go to works well in everything round. It shot all rounds quite nicely with the largest groups being around 1.25" (stingers). Seems to like mini mags but I'm going to try to find some sk and lapua center x to try out. I didn't make the challenge but I feel like I will with some decent ammo and on a day that's not so windy. It was blowing up to 10mph when I tried it out this am. Distance was 50m laying prone with a bipod and rear bag.
Avg is .592"

I'm interested in your experience and results, as I was thinking about getting the same rifle...I also have a high magnification scope that would do the trick nicely.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Well that was close. Picked up some lapua center x and thought I would give the challenge another go. These were the first 25 shots of the lapua. I also bought some sk standard but will wait for another day to try it. I feel like I would have done this challenge off of a bench but just couldn't do it lying on the shop floor. I know it will do it but I'm going to wait for a bit better weather and when I can get to my bench.

I think its nice too see someone's progression getting to the under .5" mark. especially since this thread dies for a few weeks to a month at a time

Like I said earlier, if you post an unsuccessful attempt you must still enter all the required info you would post for a successful attempt.

I agree completely. Certain people have posted hundreds of times on the importance of ammo lot numbers and accuracy, theyre correct. Yet they still post it. Im guilty of being a major A HOLE at times on this forum. We are all shooters and with the current hate on for guns and anyone who owns them, Im starting to think a bit differently. Take a deep breath and realize everyone has an opinion! Even if its not the same as yours or seems stupid, we are all lovers of guns, shooting, hunting, reloading, trading, selling, modifying and all the other cool s..t we enjoy. Band together and stand as one or GUNNUTZ will be a memory as well as owning firearms. I appologize to anyone Ive been a DICKHEAD too. Theres a bunch of you and Im offering an appology. Wether you accept or not is up to you but I mean IT. Its time to band together or be prepared to, not own a firearm. IT IS COMING
