Congratulations on your extraordinary results, Shooter1971. Your first entry in this challenge will no doubt hold a record for a very long time with it's overall average of .192". Any time a shooter posting on these pages has an overall average under .2" with a .22LR at 50 is noteworthy, and this was done without $20 per box ammo. That IBI barrel really shines. Were it not for one group, it would have successfully qualified for the 1/4" club, with an even more incredibly small overall average of no more than .176". Well done!

I’d say, his largest group is what most people call fantastic. Congrats that setup is nice and has convinced me to get the new barrel

Thanks didn't realize it was that good, everything I've read suggests those are common groups if the shooter does his part lol...looking forward to trying 100 to see what it will do. Now to hunt down more sk from that lot

I have Manitou210 as the record holder of the smallest average. He shot his successful attempt at 100 yards with an average of .310” for 6 groups at 100 yards so I credit him with the smallest average of .155” at 50. That decision was made a long time ago and I’m not sure how I would handle the situation now, but I still consider it the record.
Eagleye has the smallest group record at .076”. It’s possible I’ve missed something over the years so if I missed something I’d appreciate it if someone would let be know. Thanks.

Here are the pictures, hopefully this works.

Not sure if Grauhanen is being sarcastic... but it would be better to teach shooter 1971 how to measure groups. First, the shooting is overall very good and certainly makes the 1/2" challenge. However, I must contest the bottom left and bottom right groups being stated as 0.09" (seriously?) and 0.24", respectively. More realistically, they are 0.130" and 0.310", as best as I can resize the image and measure on my screen. The middle group is correct, and I'd give the top left 0.220" and top right 0.120". Avg = 0.22". Again, really good shooting, but please try to measure accurately.

For reference, compare how these properly measured groups look.

Didn't measure...used software. Can't believe you really care enough to blow the picture up and check. Your "contesting" it? Oh no I might lose bragging rights on cgn. Spend your time shooting maybe you can get better results instead of being critical of everyone else's.

Hey that target you posted is almost as good as mine!!

It’s under 1/2”. Good enough for the challenge.

My apologies for the mistake and especially to manitou210. With his Remington 40X he shot a successful five group target at 50 yards with an overall average of .191" (post #152 on July 7, 2013). It is indeed smaller than the five group average posted by Shooter1971. I see his original post has been amended to show the math corrected to .192" (from .172") as the overall average. Eagleye's record smallest group no doubt still stands.

This is the post from Manitou210 that I used to decide his record. It was shot at 100 yards. If you add up all 6 groups you get an average of .310” at 100 yards then divide that by 2 for a 6 group average of .155” at 50 yards.

Thank you, for that, Underthegun. I was wrong again. It's well-worth noting that manitou210's results are outstanding. His shooting is impressive, his rifle excellent, and that lot of ammo very special. His 100 yard results are better than many posters on this thread do at 50, me included. Even on my best day and with the best ammo I've had, I haven't been able to shoot a five group average anywhere near under .2" at 50.

Sir, I complimented your shooting. For simply pointing out the error in measurement, this childish outburst is not very becoming of you. I care about integrity, which is clearly lacking on your end. My target is "almost as good as yours"? Cute. With two groups in the 0.3's and an average over 0.22", yours doesn't even qualify for the 1/4" frustration club. Might want to do some math before you stick your foot in your mouth again. Take your own advice to spend more time shooting, and maybe you'll eventually shoot a legitimate 0.0xx" group, or you might even be the second person to achieve the 1/4" challenge! :) Head back to the first page of this thread and refresh your memory as to who the only successful shooter is on that to date. Have a lovely Canada d'eh.

I've said all I need to say. Sorry to put a damper on the thread, can I make up for it by posting some more 1/2" candy? :)
