My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

I don't doubt most of you are honestly shooting these groups, but what's to stop someone from setting up at 20m, shooting a tiny set of groups and saying it was shot at 50m?

I was thinking witnesses. Proof of witnesses, like pics of the shooter with the witness (faces blocked out is fine) holding a sign that says "CGN 50m 1/2" club, with the date", and both parties Initials on the target also with the same date. Maybe my faith in humanity has been eroded through the years... But i'd be more likely to believe people online if presented with more proof that the groups are legit.

If the idea of the thread is to PROVE group sizes, it is up to those showing their groups to provide burden of proof if we are to take it seriously... just sayin'.

It's already been discussed. Basically if you want to CHEAT go ahead. You are only fooling yourself.

On the topic of honor system, I went and tried for it today. I was shooting like crap and was definitely off. always had at least 1 flyer that ruined every group. My gun is definitely better than me. I'll keep trying and maybe one day I can make the club :)

Mr Graves I stand corrected, nice shooting. I hope to do as well. Aj

To give credit where it is due, JEC was the first to qualify for this challenge and did so with a 10/22 variant (Volquartsen).

The reason there are so few 10/22 on the list is it requires match rifle money to transform a plinker into a match rifle. The only Ruger parts in my SR-22 are the receiver (cleaned up inside), bolt handle and magazine ("stock" is a Nordic Components chassis from the factory). I'm quite certain the are also no Ruger parts in the Volquartsen guns.

It is truly unfortunate for the sport comments like this ,regardless of the freedom to comment.
Just a few thoughts -
Those who have made the grade don't need vindication
For you to suggest cheating perhaps it is because that is your proclivity
If you have your doubts then don't enter the arena
cheers

Same thing. I was certain I'd get on the front page but this isn't going to be as easy as I thought. I did about 15 groups with my best being just under 3/8" and worst around 1.25".

Good shooting everyone who accomplished it, I hope to join you with a lot of work and a little luck.

Bump back up. There still seem to be lots saying the gun shoots 1/2 in but have not entered. I shot some reel nice 1/2 groups on the weekend, using bulk ammo. Problem was they were at 25 not 50 :). I am waiting to find some better ammo although I have some Elly pistol blue box I will try. I have changed scopes and have decided that my eyes are not up to using the peeps on my Martinni :( Thanks for the thread.

Went to the range a couple days ago. My gun will do 1/2 inch no problem, me, that's a different story. I fired 3 sets and had many 1/2 in groups. just not 5 on 1 page. all but 2 were 1/2 or less 4 shots :( . I was shooting Eley pistol and could watch the bullet hit the target. I would have a great group going then 1 would drop 3/4 in down. These low velocity rounds were also moved by the wind. I will try again when I have some good target ammo. It was still fun & nice to get out with no rain.

I had dismissed this thread untill trying my old lakefield target with various ammo at 25yds today. Sk plus gave me one hole groups, and suprisingly blazer was not far off of it. Going to attempt it at the first good opportunity. Do I get bonus points for even trying it without optics other than glasses?

Mighty fine shooting fellas!!

Went and tried out the 50 yrd challenge. Quite tough but I am close enough that I am going to give the old girl a good cleaning in hope it gets me the last little bit I need! Going to play with some different front sights and targets to see if that helps as well! Anyone have a scope mount for a lakefield 91 ts? Just in case i give up on the reticle sights!

Ok, here we go. This is my "shot at the title".
Rifle: Huskvarna 1722 .22lr
Ammo: CCI Green Tag
Distance: 50yds
Wind: right to left quartering away
Scope: Simmons 22Mag 3-9x40 adjustable focus objective with target turrets
Rest: Harris bipod
Shooting surface: picnic table
Area: Cranbrook/ Fort Steele, B.C.
Groups are shot in a clockwise direction starting with the bulseye and then to one o'clock, etc. I don't have a caliper.

I don't have a caliper.

So close. Damn good shooting, but that cold bore shot did you in. I suggest anyone trying this to put up a second target for cold bore/fouling shots.
