Its possible there was excess oil, and that the oil gummed it up.

What does that have to do with someone is having a problemm with their gun?

As has already been pointed out, that last sentence the OP typed.

Im sure that a sentence doesn't have enough cause by itself to cause anything, but it could be used against him is something were to happen.

I took the gun apart and cleaned it just BEFORE the I took it out. (I don't clean it that often)...I won't worry about it much for now but if it happens again I'll take action.

Eh, it only takes a minute to take unscrew the two action screws and drift out the trigger housing pin. Aside from the stupid guide rods and springs, the 597 is pretty damn easy to field strip.
