My 6BR Build....FINALLY FINISHED(Lots of Pics added 03/12/08) NOT 56K FRIENDLY AT ALL

Cost me $420 and should last a lifetime of shooting. Considering what Harris bipods are worth ($80-$125) and comparing the build quality of the two I personally think the price is "not bad" as it should be the last bipod I ever need to purchase.

Henry is in Calgary.

I do know this was the last one he had because another shooter wanted one so Paul Reiben was trying to get 2 of them.

Definitely a nice setup when you compare pricing to the TRG system.

Does it collapse and transport as easy as a Harris or TRG? Do you have any pictures of the ready to transport position?

Great photos!!

Very nice rifle. I have the XR-100 in .204. 6mm BR has definately interested me for a long time. Good job.

Does that bipod connect just on the front swivel like a regular one?
How do you find it for shooting?

It installs on a rail that is inlet into the stock and glassed in. When I take more pics I will take one to show that.

No it does not collapse, how you see it sitting is how I transport it. I have a pull along plastic tool chest from Cambodian Tire that I load my gear in. It holds the bipod, chrony, 2 rear bags, spotter and stand, shooting mat, targets and I usually throw my box(es) of ammo in as well.

I was thinking that I could actually fit the bipod in my gun case if I make the cut out in the foam just right but I would have to turn the bipod out into it's flattest setting to do so.

I am waiting for the paperwork to import a 12-42 BR Nightforce from the US. I will take pics of the whole setup when it's all together. I got my new spotting scope and Ray-Vin scope stand as well...happy days.

I am taking it out this weekend to try my luck at 1500m gongs :pirate:

You'll love the NF, I've been using the NXS series for some time. I've had 3 of them and for the money, their just great. To compare side by side to USO or S&B its very hard to tell the dif. The S&B is very very nice, but for the price, the NF is a screaming deal.

Your rifle looks like its coming together very nicely:D

I am sure you know that the 204 bolt head would need to be changed to work with the 6BR. A new action would be easier and less expensive.

Some other options include the 223/223AI with a fast twist barrel, or a 6mm-223 reg or AI. The 6mmTCU is a very interesting wildcat and will have the same case capacity as the PPC. Little issue getting these to shoot as well.

For 30mm scopes, I am hearing very positive reports on the new Elite 4200 and Nikon X models. Both have approx 50/60min of elevation and mil dot is as funcky as reticle as you can get. Mag is also 24X and 16X so not quite the telescope as the NF (who needs a spotting scope when you have 42X of joy). But both are 1/2 to 1/3 the price.

No worries mysticplayer. I didn't have any plans to convert my .204 to a 6mm br :D. I should have made a new paragraph. I was thinking more of the Remington 40X that comes in 6mmbr from the factory. Or maybe a Kimber converted over to 6mm BR. I think for what it would cost me to convert a rifle, it would be worth it just to fork over the extra for a Remington 40x. In Cyanide's case he was able to have a very nice rifle at a reasonable cost. Unfortunately my costs would no doubt be much higher. Nice rig Cyanide.

That will be in the future. I have to learn a lot more about reloading before I start in that game. Right now I just enjoy shooting the factory rounds and a few handloads that a buddy helped me with.

6mm BR has always interested me.

I have the Varminter NF on there now but not enough reach for me (5.5-22) plus it has the Range finding reticle which is better suited for either my Savage LRPV .223 or the 22-250 Frankenstein gun I have on the build right now. Wait until you see this thing...LMAO...I will be posting b4 and after pics for sure.

You will love it. Once you start loading match rounds for one it's a great sense of accomplishment, it was (and still is) for me. Especially when you get out and test your loads in a "competitive environment".

I think it is time you learned the truth Richard: They gave out the "Sweet Tart" necklace as a prize for the only shooter that wears a hockey helmet
to matches, not for the number of holes you made on the white part of the target frame. Didn't you notice how nobody wanted to lay down in the same spot at the firing point after you clapped and drooled through your relays? We all thought when you screamed "BANG BANG" it was pretty cute for the first 20 times, but from then on we thought you were just a bit too loud.:p

I'm still working on getting you on the next telethon though, so don't give up yet. BTW, I bought you some of the beer that you like so when you come to try your gong luck :sniper:at 1 mile on Saturday, there will be a consolation prize.

:nest:

Jerry is invited too but he tells me he has to find something that fell off one of his Savages that day:D
