Locked out and old email address is on file here

Dave D are you the CGN police?

Yeah I was very inactive on here in the past several months, years. My fault for having an old email. I didn’t blame anybody but certainly am not going to be arguing with a keyboard warrior about it.

I hope the mods just delete this thread and my profile.

Is life really that hard to manage for people where they just throw their arms up and quit things over the smallest of inconveniences ?

How do these people handle income tax problems or investment issues or complex insurance claims or legal matters ?
Why TF do you think? You have been here 3 years wooptie do.
I will tell you why. Older guys have been here 25 years and they know how to do some things. But other things computer related not so much, its not worth the hassle and frustration with a site on the way out anyways . And im not exactly computer illiterate and yet this site gave me problems re registering. Its like a guy coming home from work the last 25 years and the doors are locked and windows boarded up. Not only that, a mod could easily send the proper email that some didn't get to reinstate their old name and trader rating . But no. You think a CGN mod would do that? Not f ing likely.
So a guy here with a perfect trader rating of 600 goes away on holidays or doesnt realize his old email was not correct anymore comes here and BOOM. All gone. And yet this person who had part in a site for 25 years will get ZERO SUPPORT to what would be incredibly easy to re instate by clicking a few buttons. Will that happen? Not a snowballs chance in hell.

You realize this is a free website right? You don't have to be a #### to people who volunteer their time for you to come here for those 20 years.

Sounds more like you can't sign into your own old email or cgn account but it's someone else's fault. I'm sure someone will gladly come and volunteer to help you even though you're an ingrate
It’s neat that you think everyone behind this board is a volunteer. These speculative discussions have been flushed out completely, just not since you’ve been here.
Hey ain't end of the world.

CGN crashed 2 times before March 2004, so we all started over many times. I had to restart in 2016, lost my March 04 OG status.
Exactly.

Have you looked at the mess in greetings?

Yes indeed, a very public display of people that dont keep their profiles current with correct contact information for situations such as account recovery and password changes.

I still fail to see how this is the fault of CGN admin staff.

I cannot see how it is CGN's fault for sending notices to the email address you provided.

Yep.

Old account locked with password reset sent to an old email address that is no longer active. So here we are in the new, improved and secure iteration.

Who said everyone? They said mods, do you know the details of every mod here or something?

You're trying to cite a conversation from pre 2008 when I was originally here as evidence of something about all the mods in 2025? Or do you just mean in 2012 for this account? Sounds like you need to go to your archives and prove people wrong since you're the Oracle of truth.

There's lots of people in the greetings who probably don't renew documents until they expire and get mad at the clerks behind the desk for not helping them do it anyway

New name but definitely an old guy. Honestly, I would prefer to just reconstitute my old 20-some odd year handle (relliott) but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that.

There are over 200,000 members on CGN.
Are you suggesting the administrative team and Moderators should have sifted through everyone user profile to make changes.

How would a moderator verify your actually the valid account owner ?

Perhaps an unscrupulous person could make an account named "zedex2" and claim to be the owner of the original zedex account.

Can you imagine the monumental task of validating 200k or more accounts ?

They already have their hands full keeping people in check.

Myself included at times.
