Top rifle: 35 Whelen AI, Rem 700 Ti action, Shilen match barrel at 24" Mcmillan stock,Kwik clip coversion, and Leupold 4.5-14 X 40. Shooting 225 Barnes TSX at 2900(4200 ft/lbs).

Middle rifle: 25-06 Remington, Rem 700 stainless action, brown precision stock, and Beven King stainless fluted barrel at 26", and Leupold 4.5-14 x 40. Shooting Barnes 100 gr TSX BT at 3450 fps.

Bottom rifle: 260 Remington, factory Remington 700 Ti, with Leupold 2.5-8 x 36 silver scope in Talley lightweights. Shooting 130 Berger VLD's ato 2850. Weighs 6 lbs 2 oz.

I have lots more, don't worry!!! These are my three main hunting rifles, with same action safety etc. I have the 25-06 for longer range deer. 260 for mountain hunting, and the 35 Whelen for big stuff.

That's a pretty big scope on a 35 whelenAI.

Big scope

The 35 Whelen AI is quite a flat shooting cartridge with the 225 barnes TSX. Sighted in 2.8" high at 100, it has only 18" drop at 400 yards. It still has 2100 ft/lbs of energy as well.

Nice trio. What are you using the 25-06 for primarily?. Would you use it for mulies? My dad has talked about using on 06 for groundhogs, but so far has stuck with the .222. Rem.

The 25-06 is for longer range deer hunting. Those 100 gr TSX BT going that fast really do a number on things.

I would not feel undergunned hunting Grizzly with the 35 Whelen AI and 225 Barnes TSX's. And yes there are grizzly's behind every stump and tree. Just ask Gatehouse.
