Hi guys,
Just thought I'd share my new (to me) Browning Semi-Auto 22. It is my first semi-auto firearm, my first rifle and my first 22.
After stripping the terrible varnish finish it had, I gave it a couple of coats of tung oil. There was so much sand and dirt in the receiver, combined with copious amounts of old oil & grease, the action would barely move when I first got it. I ended up spending about an hour carefully scraping gritty paste off every surface with a dental pick! A dab of white paint on the front sight and it was off to the range. It is a blast to shoot, but is IMHO really crying out for some better sights. I really admire the simple yet effective takedown design, and I look forward to walking the trails with it on hiking trips looking for squirrels and grouse!
Does anyone know a Canadian retailer who carries the Browning barrel scope mount shown below? I think a 4X scope would suit this rifle very well (and my poor eyes).
Thanks for looking,
- Jason
