I finally ended a quite long journey into setting this baby up. This journey came after an even longer one.
I first started like any other caster who won't take time to read and read and read again from other people experience and bought a Lee bottom pot. It was many moons ago when I was casting heavy sinkers for my other addiction which is fishing. Soon I had to buy a second Lee as the first one crapped. The second one lasted a while but eventually ended crushed by my own hands with the help of a sledge hammer.
Next was a Lyman bottom pour. Good machine. But soon after I got curious about the RCBS promelt. The last one is an awesome thing. Both Lyman and RCBS served me really well but for some reasons I liked more the RCBS. I sold the Lyman and bought two more RCBS. Yes, I'm a hoarder.
But then I've seen another machine that took my breath away. I was smitten instantly and it took me a while till I got it as I was always on the road working and it was always some other toy I had to buy. Long story short I bought my dream machine and I couldn't be happier. In manual mode casting 500-700 bullets a session without back pain, mess or sore hands was what I was dreaming of. I love the feeling of manually casting bullets. It's so rewarding and joyful every time I pull that handle.
But then I got curious and kinda greedy and wanted more. I soon realized the potential of the machine and how much time I could gain by doing other things while the thing would crank by itself bullets without me to touch it. Well, I don't regret the decision at all. It costed me time and money but is all worth it now. The joy I feel watching the machine have no price.
I like to keep my life quite private and with not much advertising of any kind but I thought I'd share with some of you who are reading this section on CGN. There are tens of thousands members here but just few of them are into molten lead and dirty hands.

OK gents, this is my slave. No pay, no raise, no union, no complaining of any kind. Just feed it lead and it will work for me. I hope you'll enjoy few minutes of "no hands on" casting bullets. The video is not public as I uploaded as "unlisted" so only people with a link can see it. No advertising as I said, just sharing with other addicts some aspects of our common addiction.

cool stuff. what is model and who makes this machine (the one you automated)?

The machine is made by Magma in Arizona. They make (an remake) some of the best machinery for casting I've ever seen. Their machines are not cheap but they are amazing quality and they last a life time literally. I honestly don't need anything else for casting bullets anymore. I'm set for the rest of my days.
The automation is not my creation. I wish I would be that smart tho. There are few kind of automations for Master Caster from the simplest (like mine) to some very complex and intricate ones. As you've seen this one works so I'm not interested to have the mold carrier tapped and such bells and whistles.
The components used are sold by an automation company as long with the software who's free.

The automated sizer is also possible and actually Magma sells it but is not WOW. The automated sizer without the bullet feeder is not worth buying or making. I've seen it at work and I was not really impressed. For the volume I need the manual feeding the Star sizer is plenty as the machine is fast anyway. Who knows, maybe one day I'll get greedy and get into it, but for right now I'm not really thrilled.

The molds are all Magma molds. There are other very good quality molds hat can be adapted for the use with Master Caster. I'll try to get a mold for 9 mm with no lube grooves for the sole purpose of powder coating, but for right now is just a project. I still lube the old fashion and I'm quite happy.
I found that Magma molds are very good quality and they suit my needs just perfect. I still have Magma molds I never used so I'm not in rush with more molds.

My next project on the list is setting up my shot maker on a organized bench and make that thing purr like a kitten. Right now making shot is a chore and a total mess I won't even describe due to a multitude of factors. But I'll do it no matter what.

Got my hands on more lead and linotype so I'll need to transform the stash into some shootable shapes.

These are the only ones left I did with the machine in manual mode.

Awesome setup!thanks for sharing.I recently got into casting, and I fully understand the "pleasure" one gets from making your own bullets.I don't use a machine,I pour straight from the pot, into my mould.here is a pic of my first creations.

The RPM(actually BPH) really doesn't matter as while the machine works I can size, reload or watch a movie. On the other hand tho not working for those bullets somehow takes the joy from the whole process. Manually cranking the handle give me the best feeling and enjoyment to be honest.
Depends how every one looks at it. Wanna save time, then use the automation. Wanna feel something, then disconnect the air hose and go manually.

How the timing it's set up right now the BPH is 360 bullets per hour. I can change the settings to double the BPH but as long I don't even touch it I don't really care how fast it goes. In any case the mold needs time to cool down in order to have perfect bullets so higher BPH means to shorten the number of seconds in certain casting phases which would not be wise.

Training and competing is at everyone's hand. It all depends in how bad you want it. Ask yourself "how bad I want it?" and you'll find out if training and competing is for you or not.
It really doesn't matter what is the thing that I want, but whatever is my thing I want it bad. Really bad.
