My C8A3 build

I've broken too many of those TRI-AD's and charging handle latches do understand why there is interest in them. On the other hand, I need some Colt Canada hammer forged barrels in 18.6'' length in a thin profile to accommodate my NR platform that uses AR barrels.

The issued Eotechs aren't green. Get a URX4 14.5'' OSTS has them. The cheese grater rails are so 2000-lame.

Really? Ok, must have remembered wrong. Thought the C8A3s at our unit had green Eotechs, but yeah, I was pretty sleep-*ucked that evening.

So, no go on the cheese graters? Don't like the retro-build? Haha!

I have a Cadex rail and grip on the way that I got from scoutbasecamp.ca.

I rather wait and see what Colt has to offer before I buy the Cadex tri-rail. But If Korth jacks the price and takes us for fools again I will be done buying CC stuff....

I might be interested in going FF with Key mod if a two piece rail like DD omega comes out in it. I don't feel like driving out taper pins and re installing them. According to a conversation I listened to with Matt K, the way CC installs the pins is pretty precise to avoid negative accuracy impacts.

Yeah, that's why I was thinking drop in rails instead of FF, that way I could easily throw on the factory handguards for the original look.

Maybe I'll just leave it all stock and shoot it as is.

No. Most are stolen CF parts. A few triads were sold by police. If we do decide to sell any I will likely mark them to differentiate.

Most of the triads and A1 DIS floating around came with the C8A2 police departments bought a few years back. Most departments ditched them and put on optics. PD either sold, traded or even through them in the garbage.

There's a lot of bashing going on of the issue kit that I don't understand. For sure there are better products out there, maybe even much better, but I never had a problem with anything other than the "claw" charging handle.
I had a PEQ4 on my triad, it held zero for an entire tour. The Elcan is very robust and has moderate magnification that's pretty helpful for watching the hajis as they watch you, and very helpful for putting brown in the ground. It's pretty good at most effective ranges except close in, but that why they issued us EOTechs (OGroup was a good way to tell if we were house clearing combat patrol, so deciding which one to use was easy). I also used the plastic BUIS and it also held zero for an entire tour. My unit was nearly entirely dismounted, so we used the gear on a regular basis (patrols 5 days a week, and regular OPs on top of that), many of us with several CONFIRMED kills using issue kit with no complaints. There weren't many units at all, if any, that clocked as many Km's as we did that tour. I don't even recall anybody #####ing about it from other companies and units, so I know I'm not the only one.

I say put the issue kit on your rifle with pride. It may not be the best or the prettiest, but despite other opinions it works and I've got the stories and experience to back it up.

The only real complaint I had with the elcan 79 is the mount it came with, that being said the optic is alright. once I got use to it the results were pretty awesome.

Well, hard to beat solid experience. I think CC mentioned that the claw is out of production, so we’re SOL there, and so is the sling plate. And for the TRIAD, there is a reproduction TRIAD you can get from BCM unless of course CC re-releases the TRIAD with different stampings on it. The Cadex vertical grip is commercially available, but the optic is the question. Paint your Elcan green with a rattlecan, or can can you purchase the green condom from Elcan?

I’ve only shot at paper, without anyone shooting back, but despite my lack of operational experience, I like the Elcan too. I like the open-gate feature for quick adjustments for different ranges, but my eyes are old and not very useful so for my personal rifle, I might skip the authenticity bit and get something with more magnification. I shot at a competition (Blair shoot in Chilliwack) earlier this year and at 500m, the target sheet looked like a fuzzy dot.

Just noticed, a little fat got trimmed off this thread.....so did any of you guys get transfer notifications yet? Mine came in the mail yesterday, but I think Korth is still waiting for the green furniture to arrive? No shipping notification from Korth yet, but Andres didn’t mention if he would be sending out tracking numbers when the rifles ship.

My TRI-AD worked fine until one of the rails broke off. Luckily, I didn't lose the PEQ4 because the pressure switch tether stood fast.

Things are going to break, but yours is the first instance I've heard of one breaking, aside from smashing one off a LAV (which would have broken ANY mount), and I've seen bent ones, but again any mount would have bent under the circumstance. I've broke a "claw" charging handle, but it was well used by the time I wrecked it. Almost everyone I know replaced it with a normal one because it had a tendency to get hung up on your gear, myself included.
Lots of guys also used the CADEX grip successfully and without a single issue. Stand it on or brace it against a mud wall and it'll do a great job of getting some accurate fire down range.
With all of the issued kit, there are better things out there. Having said that, I have not had a single problem with any of it, and I've utilized it for it's intended purpose with excellent results, with the exception of the "claw" charging handle.
Most of the kit we have has been used and abused by every retard who thinks they're a super soldier. Baby Huey with more brawn than brains will easily break any charging handle given enough brute force and ignorance.
The same for our vehicles, they have the piss driven out of them by two feet drivers, and jammy idiots. But this doesn't mean any of it is crap, it's just beat up. Just look at the issue with replacing the ML. They look like crap, they drive like crap, but they work and are proving hard to replace with something equally capable.

EDIT: I apologize for the rant and I don't mean to say that anyone's opinion is wrong. I just have a hard time with all the the complaints about the equipment since my experience and observations are very different. And more so, if there was a problem, I or one of my teammates would have noticed, especially considering the amount use actual combat use our rifles and our gear saw. That's my main reason for having such confidence in my statements and the equipment. The stuff worked, in real world situations, without complaint.
