As requested, I put together a few pics of how my cheapo NM hood works. Without getting into cutting measurements, I'll leave that to your discrection, I basically took a .30 mauser steel case, cut a groove to the shoulder with a dremel, took 10mm brass, cut a notch on it, blued it, and put slip it over.
The .30 mauser brass is tight and will expand when it is twisted to fit on the rear sight. This were the cut groove does it's work. The slight expansion developed by the fitting of the rear sight will create a snug fit for the 10mm brass. It's not a perfectly measured installation but it works. The hood is tight and will not move. You will need to do some hand fitting and filing to make it work. It's cheap!
