My Completed SKS and a Highly Recommended SKS Mount Option

Anyone who runs non magnified holographic sights on their SKS who might be having zeroing issues or those who have yet to get a mount but want one, I highly suggest the SKS Scout mount from*hotlink removed I think it is the best option for anyone looking to run no more than just a red dot, it is by far the most rock solid mount yet in my opinion. The only down side is that because this mount is so small you are limited to compact holographic sights only and if you must run a full sized scope then it is not the mount for you, you'd be better off with a Magwedge Kwik rail or a Chaote receiver mount. The great part is that once you acquire this mount and a compact red dot, it is just a perfect setup. Another bonus is that neither the mount (or any part of it) nor the optic itself needs to be removed for cleaning. Once it goes on, it stays on and will not hinder the use of stripper clips. This mount comes with 2 set screws and a roll pin and replaces your rear iron sight and leaf spring. If you do ever purchase this red dot mount I advise to put a dab of grease on the screws before you put them in as the threads are extremely fine and very tight (but very strong). Without grease it'll be easy to cross the threads. You'll only need to use grease once. Here are some pictures of my completed SKS build. Archangel style.

I have the mount and love it. Only two problems
1). You need a smaller red dot or no stripper clips. I had a sparc and it was no go. The trs 25 barely makes it. A fast fire would be best. What rds are u running.
2). Once she starts smoking the rds gets harder to see.
Still, best mount by far. A scope for a sks is overkill

It's a Bushnell First Strike.

Mine was a pain in the azz to lock down, when I tightened the rear set screw it would push the back end up and bend the roll pin. I am sticking with iron sights unless magwedge makes a rail that allows stripper clip use.

I chalk it up to variation in machining, no two sks's are the same it seems.

Sounds like you were over tightening. The rear screw will turn many times past the point you're supposed to. You only need a quarter turn. You're not supposed to crank that one until it won't go any more, lol...

It never got tight, it just kept turning. I only used a small Allen key so I was not ham fisting it, it's a shame seeing as it's a well made mount. Too much of a sloppy fit on my 51 was the problem. I even tried it turning the Allen key with one finger, no dice.

Mine is a 51 too. That one doesn't get very tight man, you just use it to synch up the front of the mount. Grab another roll pin and try again. Tighten the front one first to minimal pressure, tighten the rear one just till it touches metal, tighten the front one down again fully and then give the rear one a quarter turn. It has to be done in that sequence. Did you see the installation video? Just try it again in that order.

For anyone using the BC Tactical mount, have you had any issue with spent casings hitting your red dot sight?

I shot about 100 rounds so far and haven't noticed yet. Even if it does here and there it won't hit the glass as the sight is so small and compact. I really don't see it an issue. Mine is also shock proof. So I guess my answer is no.

Yeah, I did all that. Didn't work out any different, watched the instal video as well.

I'm using my red dot on something else, anyone interested in a not used bc tactical scout mount just pm me lol. I'm fine with the iron sights, it not a tack driver after all.

I have a Holosun red dot on my mount. It's the furthest it can go, and I have marks on my reddot which pisses me off A bit. I even did the ejection port mod in which you grind a bit of the reciever where the casings would eject by so the rounds would go to the side.

I've got a donor so to speak so I am going to remove it off that one. I need better punches first.

Awe man, I thought I was done. Now you got me looking at it imagining how it looks without the front sight and it would look pretty slick. Where can I find one of those removal tools? Any Canadian retailers sell em? My pins are brutally stiff...
