That sucks but I don't think a broken firing pin reflects poor S&W QC. Was it not under warrantee?
Nice gun except for the rail, that's just wrong on a revolver. This just came the other day, and it's my ideal, and it's 44 mag

…maybe because S&W doesn't make the firing pin (i.e.. they source the part out). How does a part breaking on a new gun not reflect poorly on manufacturer's quality?

Things go wrong, manufacturers make them right. That is the way of things. Perfection is an ideal rarely achieved . All of these guys that piss and moan about whoever's quality these days are likely saints who do no wrong in their lives from day to day.
I was starting to have a light strikes more and more often and after the last trip to the range I've took it apart and find out that the firing pin is broken. So much for a legendary Smith and Wesson quality.Ordered the new one from Brownells, extended length as well. Updates of the situation after new pin is installed.
Sorry to hear that id64. Was this due to dry firing?
Beautiful revolver.
I don't think so, light strikes where since day one. I think, that it was already malfunctioning. Not a bit deal, I will replace it myself.
I have brought 4 Performance Centr revolver in last 2 years and 2 of them have to send to Murray for warranty issue. Including the new 986. I will not buy any PC in near future.
