My experience with CSA VZ 58 5.56, North Pro Sports, and North Sylva.

Did you guys see the thread that went on for months in north sylva's section where a guy was ignored and ignored (by phone and every other way) and he eventually had to call the cops to get his gun back from them? Good grief. They erased the thread but that was really bad.

Yes I was posting pics in their sk47 thread but it was more conversational about sks mods with other members than any kind of endorsement.

Spoke with North Pro today, I asked them about sending a 7.62x39 model instead - North Pro agreed to send a 7.62x39 model they had in stock and pay for shipping to me.

Glad to be done with the whole thing after this long.

Sweet, it was long and you were very patient but in the end you have a new rifle. Are you happy with the fact you get a 7,62 instead?

Glad you posted this. I have a chance to buy one for a really decent price,....I can see why now. NOT touching it with a 10 foot pole.! THANX !!!

North Sylvia is the one to blame. They have a notoriously terrible customer service and since I had to deal with them I can vouch for that. They also have no trouble stepping over the line.

I have a 7.62 vz 58 that had a part of the bolt break off. After wrestling them about shipping costs they tried to trick me to use their Purolator account to ship it to them. Before sending I checked their shipping regulations and if I sent the firearm it would have been seized and sent off to the RCMP. What the hell? I inquired about this and here was their response:

"Do not use Purolator, they will seize your firearm, we do not provide any COS or shipping labels to them since we do not use their services either for firearms or ammo.

Please contact either Loomis Canada or Canada Post, make sure to mention what you are shipping and make sure there is no restrictions, also request tracking number service.

Regards

George C."

They lied about having a Purolator account and tried to get my firearm illegal seized in the hopes that I will be so fed up with their service I won't go back to them for warranty services. They don't have a Loomis account either, I got a phony account number from North Sylvia.

Beware when dealing with North Sylvia they are a shady bunch and will screw you over as much as they can.

Welcome to dealing with North Sylva!

Total F'n joke as far as any warranty service is concerned.

Took me closer to 6 months just to receive a new rifle when all was said and done!

I now specifically try to stay away fro any gun that has anything to do with North Sylva!

That bolt is a drag, but the "gouge" which looks like galling from the front sight being pressed on, is not that terrible considering those rifles are covered in machine marks from the factory and big pieces are stamped sheet metal. It's a battle rifle, I'd have lived with that if the bolt had gotten fixed.

On a nice sporting gun, I'd have been livid though.

North Sylva warranty is a total joke.

I loved my 7.62x39 csa vz58. The only problem I had was the polymer stock cracked, it was a huge pain to get a new one.

I'm kind of indifferent about the new rifle to be honest. I just want to get my money out of the platform and move to something else entirely - particularly after seeing another thread on a CSA 7.62x39 model that had to be sent back for repair. (Ref: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1386074-CSA-Gunsmiths-work-on-the-VZ58)

Mine works now after they cleaned the rails up and changed all my internals. Luckily, Mine broke in the winter so I never missed much shooting. 800 Rounds through it since it broke at it works 100% with 0 FTE or FTC

I have the worst luck I swear - the rifle arrived today from North Pro but the box was smashed on one end when I picked it up from the post office. Took some pictures of the damage prior to opening and after and gave the rifle a pretty good inspection and nothing appears to be damaged. There are no nicks, scrapes, or gouges anywhere.

Suggestions?

Welcome to warranty work on firearms in Canada, I waited a year to get my savage 10-tr fixed through grechoutdoors in Ontario. They took 2.5 months to get to look at it and then never got the barrel in, finally through good folks on this website we antagonized savage Canada till they gave us new ones. Remington gets their rifles fixed at the same place! I can only imagine how long it would take to get parts or worse, ship a rifle to Europe and back, in our country , it is buyer beware! Some who bought the 10tr got them from sfrc, who exchanged the rifles almost immediately and they dealt with the problem,,, myself and others bought from another sponsor and all they did was give me the phone number of the repair depot! Everyone needs to ask what will happen if my rifle does not work properly or has a defect! If the answer is not , "send it back to us" postage paid, then do not buy from them. We are purchasing online,, sight unseen,, we are putting a lot of trust in our sponsors to do due diligence on the items they send us as we cannot see or touch or shoot them! All the big box companies send the rifles with a return postage so if there is any problem,, back it goes! This is what we need from the sponsors and it is what we get from most of them! Again, buyer beware!
