My factory hunting rifle shoots between .5"-.75" all day! Really? Prove it!

I would like to give this a go with my Tikka T3 6.5x55 but I need to borrow some good rests from a buddy as I know I'm not capable of this kind of accuracy with just a bipod.

I keep trying almost every weekend but get a flier in one or two of my groups... I did order a full setup of reading gear today though so I can get away from factory ammo.

So you can afford to keep chasing the challenge, eh?

No... Actually quite the opposite. I am currently shooting nothing but AE bulk ammo from the 1000 round ammo cans. That ammo costs around 37.5¢ per round. I calculated that my hand loads will cost about 40¢ each, so not only did I spend $400.00 on reloading gear, my cost per round is going up. Hopefully I will be able to build a round that will put 3 shots in a 1/2" group at 100 yards...

I made it out yesterday for an attempt with a stock Savage Axis in 223. Spring must be here as the range was crazy busy. Only made one attempt and it looks like I should have fired a few warm up groups. The first group was from a cold, clean barrel and I could only see two of the holes through my spotting scope, but it looked like I had two bullets cutting one hole from the bench (turned out to be wrong) so I continued on. Groups in order fired were 1.131, 0.795, 0.685, 0.554, 0.334, avg group 0.700, so not successful, but a good attempt IMHO. I should have tried again as groups were getting better with each group fired but there was a lot of distraction and I decided to call it a day. A couple of pictures below. For the Axis bashers all I can say is I think my rifle is more than capable if the nut pulling the trigger could hold it together for 5 groups in a row. Pretty good for a $350 rifle scope included. By the way I was shooting 50gr VMAX over 20.8gr of IMR4198 in Federal brass with WSR primers.

I don't recall finding too many bench rest tables in the woods. I don't see the point of this thread for hunting accuracy..?

Just because it says hunting rifle doesn't mean that it's for hunting accuracy. It means that only hunting rifle qualify for the challenge.

Its to call out all those guys that say their rifle shoots one hole groups all day every day. Back up your bs basically.

Oh yeah, and this.
