if we are lucky this thread and the hunting rifle thread might answer the age old question "which rifle is more accurate, remington, savage, or tikka?". For what its worth the obvious answer is tikka lol.
tikka for sure!

You must remember that this isn't a competition. It is simply a challenge. Therefore it doesn't really matter if all the guns are on a level playing field. The reason I am considering adding aftermarket stocks is simply to include more people.
sweet, gonna give this a stab with my Tikka next time i go shooting, however mine is slightly modified.. action and barrel are standard, but its riding in an XLR chassis
I am considering changing the factory stock requirement. I am going to decide this with a vote! PM me with either "factory stock only" or "aftermarket allowed". I will accept votes until 10pm central tonight (Feb 7). Only the PM votes will count. Feel free to voice your opinion here in the thread.
As it stands right now your gun does not qualify for the challenge. There is a post about possibly changing the rules to allow aftermarket stocks. Find that post and read it. Thanks Rod
UTG, understood, that type of cat fighting does nothing to get shooters out to the range.
the barreled action is the key. One of my rifles will have a Savage sporter barrel and an axis action in another stock. Would this qualify as a factory sporter rifle?

Nice shooting BongoBob!
My only question is can you get a Rem 7 with that stock as factory? I know they make the green/black ones, but being black/grey would mean it was switched. (i think). Only reason is because mines not much different being a medalist stock but until more people pipe up, I'm in the modified must be .5 class.
(just complain for me so whiners like me can attempt to compete for some challenge)
BTW, I like that stock. I was torn between black/gray, grey/black, and the brown/black. Grey was my fav but I just decided to go brown/black. It was a tough decision.
Man, I think the concept of a friendly competition of pure factory guns is long overdue. Leave it like it is. Only modifications that should be allowed are trigger adjustments, bedding of factory stock, and any cutting and/or re-crowning of a factory barrel. None of this hodge-podge of parts & pieces to arrive with a combination that didn't come from the factory as a standard option rifle.
