Here in QC,20 to 40cm of snow in the next 72 hours...Nice Spring...

Unsuccessful since one group is over .75" (.84" w/ flyer) and I had some other shots on paper from another rifle. Posting anyways

will try again another time!

edit* - here's 5 @ 630y with that load, about 1MOA to high but I thought the accuracy was pretty good for a bullet I would not class as a good LR load (approx 4.25" c-c)

Tried the challenge with my Remington 700 .308 (not the 5R barrel) jt is heavy barrel varmint with Boyds stock. 6 to 32 power Bushnell 4400 scope, 168 grain hornady match bullets, Varget from 44.2 grains to 45.4 grains.
Boyds laminate stock. Groups from .262 (just a fluke I would say) to 1.625 to average .993 (only 2 groups over 1 inch , but sure skews the average!!)
Might be able to do it if I bedded the stock but have the Archangel stock on order so will have to wait to retry the challenge!
These challenges are addictive, need more guns to shoot the sporting gun challenge !!!!!

I think I'm going to have to throw my hat in the ring... Yesterday I shot a 0.448" 15 shot group @100y with my Tikka Varmint in 6.5x55 Swede (All factory, no bedding, nothing done to accurize except turn the trigger weight down). So, next weekend, I'll do it proper and submit.

I Finally got time to post my target from April 28th when I went to shoot at Silverdale. There were few CGNers there so my groups were witnessed :HR:

My rifle is Savage 10FP .308 Win with B&C stock (bedded by Jerry), stock barrel + trigger. Barrel has over 1500 rounds through it. Shooting from BR-6" bi-pod with rear bag.
Shooting 45.5 Varget in Lapua cases with BR2 primers. 154gr Scenars seated .10 thou into lands. Rifle shot much better after 45 rounds through it (after cleaning).

Those that were at the range know that the day had crazy gusts of wind that I would attribute some of my horizontal. I had to wait between the gusts and pray while squeezing each shot after the first 3 groups....

Groups:
.241"
.470"
.496"
.316"
.263"

Average: about .360"

Very nice and a Savage too! Well done congrats!

thank you, my gun has done some crazy nice groups from time to time, even at 200 yards but unfortunately no access to 300 yards for even a try.

I have to admit to have burned through many rounds, and even gotten few submissions but to those that know, at Silverdale, some people at times, shoot your target "by mistake" and screw your target/groups...

Ruthless, you should post this in the 1/2 MOA thread as well. It would be nice to see a gun with a factory barrell in that one.

I did the .75 with my stock savage but I think I cam make the .5 with my new load and I just bedded the action too.

Nice shooting by the way.

I tried today for the .5 challange. Close but no cigs so here is my attempt.

Gusting wind at my back 20c

The rifle is a remington vssf ii bone stock with the trigger ajusted. It is wearing a bushnell elite 4-16x40 with leupold mounts.

.223 remington
55gr nosler ballistic tips
25.8gr IMR 8208
federal brass and CCI 400 primers
cronyed at 3400

5 group sizes
.494"
.500"
.431"
.424"
.607"

smallest group is .424" and average is .491"
