My first Build. Remington 700 AAC-SD

Some rail manufacturers like EGW, Weaver etc rails are longer/extended for such a reason. As Dumptruck pointed out, LA rails won't fit on a SA.

Whichever rail you get, screw in the front screws of the rail first and note if there is a 1/32" or so gap at the rear part of the rail and action. If so, read up on bedding your rail. Not sure if it makes a huge diff but I bedded mine.

Here is the article I will be following for bedding the scope mount. http://8541tactical.com/scope%20base%20install.php

Any thoughts or should this just about cover it?

Sorry for the newb questions.. as you probably guessed, I am a newb. :)

Hey, how did the PWS muzzle break work out for you? Figure it would kick up a lot of dust if you're shooting prone.

This is why you will see Snipers in the field lay out a piece of camo cloth on the ground in front of the muzzle............keeps dust from kicking up from your muzzle blast....... ;)

I purchased the extended base with 20moa. For the right eye relief, I needed to move the scope back. Because of the bell on the front of the optics, I needed to remove 2 sections and a third for more adjustability. If I were doing it again, I would get the standard length base. Even the bases for the short action had enough room for my Elite 6500.

Most modern tactical rifle brakes have side/gill ports or are suppressed. In dusty environments you would need a parachute to shield a blast from a 50BMG :)
