Thanks! I'm assuming one would buy a long action over a short action rail if they were to purchase longer optics? They are both the same price oddly enough.
A long action rail won't bolt to a short action rifle.

Some rail manufacturers like EGW, Weaver etc rails are longer/extended for such a reason. As Dumptruck pointed out, LA rails won't fit on a SA.
Whichever rail you get, screw in the front screws of the rail first and note if there is a 1/32" or so gap at the rear part of the rail and action. If so, read up on bedding your rail. Not sure if it makes a huge diff but I bedded mine.
It shoots greatHow does it shoot?
Hey, how did the PWS muzzle break work out for you? Figure it would kick up a lot of dust if you're shooting prone.
Here is the article I will be following for bedding the scope mount. http://8541tactical.com/scope%20base%20install.php
Any thoughts or should this just about cover it?
Sorry for the newb questions.. as you probably guessed, I am a newb.![]()

This is why you will see Snipers in the field lay out a piece of camo cloth on the ground in front of the muzzle............keeps dust from kicking up from your muzzle blast.......![]()
