My first deer

Nice work, and great idea!

I started doing the same thing two years ago. I start filming as I walk towards the deer immediatley after shooting it (not rehearsed like on TV) . As I walk, I talk about what just happened (time, date, where I was, circumstances, and what I think it is, e.g. 6, 8 point, etc.). It records the details, your surprise, and your emotions. I take the stills afterwards.

Wicked troat shot(not recomended for the novice hunter). You did good.

I didnt have a choice though..
As he was walking towards me I didnt see him tilll the last second because the brush was so thick. It all happened in less then ten seconds from the time I first saw him till when he went down and I didnt even know he was a ten point since it happened so fast. The way he was coming in I knew I had to move the gun over so I waited for him to walk behide a tree. As I moved it over his head cleared the tree and he looked up at me (After the hunt I ranged it and he was only 20 yards from me). I was looking through the scope and all I could see was his head, his neck, the tree and this butt so I figured the best place to shoot would be right through the neck, so I aimed for the middle and pulled the trigger and down he went in a hurry.
I would have like film the whole thing but he didnt come in the right way and its hard for one person to shot and film.. O well theres always next year to try again.

I forgot to bring just a camra to take stills so all I have is the film and the head..

Very nice buck, congrats!!If I threw things on the ground like you did I would have probably lost them!!!Nice to see someone so excited.

Exactly what I was thinking. I was waiting to see him walk away leaving his keys behind. Know I would have.

Congrats Nick, nice deer.

Great footage :D....it sure brings back alot of good memories from my first. The total bewilderment, a million things going through your mind, tossing stuff on the ground...and never finding it again.
And did anyone else notice the movement in the deer's nose at :45 in the video....was he smiling or what??
Congrats on a job well done...and any video of you field dressing for the 1st time? That would be priceless.:puke:

No there isn't.. It was the first time cleaning a deer but I had alot of practice gutting, skinning and butchering 16 bears this year so it was pretty similar ..
