so I went out on Sunday and shot my first match, after having purchased my first rifle on Wednesday, a few days earlier. Sure was a blast! Not the easiest game in the world, but it sure is fun. This was down in Nanaimo, here on Vancouver Island, BC. Might drive down to Victoria this Sunday for the match down there, got the bug now, hehe.
1st round: 13/40

1 pig
2 turkeys
4 rams
2nd round: 15/40

I picked up a Savage Mark II FSS stainless .22lr rifle last Wednesday, went out practicing that day and Thursday, then shot the match on Sunday. It's my first rifle, and I'm liking it so far. Only started shooting this summer, with airguns I picked up back then. I guess the plinking out back is what helped out at the match. Obviously I've still got a long way to go, hehe. All the people at the match were quite friendly, and offerred advice about my next scope purchase. Apparently estimating where to aim with a 30/30 reticle isn't the best way to go about it, hehe, and I should find myself a half-decent scope with target turret adjusters. I figured I did ok with my cheapo $65 Tasco 3-9x32mm, though. I zeroed it at 50m at the range the other day, and luckily at 9x the reticle gets wider right near where I need to aim to hit at 100m, so really the only big problem I had was the turkeys. Well, and my shaky stance/hold, hahaha.
