My first game of silhouette (smallbore)

BPCR silhouette is a blast...it is shot up to 500meters(same as highpower) blackpowder and lead bullets only, the 200m chickens are shot off hand, the others are shot off shooting sticks.

If your club was to get into silhouette with rimfires, is there anyplace to purchase the target setups or is it a make your own kind of deal?

that's what I was wondering. I know that Nanaimo Fish & Game's got them, since they have a monthly shoot, but I haven't asked anyone there if members are allowed to use those targets anytime or if they belong to one of the members and they just bring them in for the shoot. If they're not the club's it would be nice to pick up a set, if they're somewhat reasonable.

I've seen cast silhouette targets on the internet for sale...I think the shipping would be the killer though.

I've made a set of targets, using the NRA .pdf files as a pattern. There a spinning target. 1/4inch steel is thick enough for .22 rimfire. I'll post some pics, they were easier to make than I thought they would be.

so I went out on Sunday and shot my first match, after having purchased my first rifle on Wednesday, a few days earlier. Sure was a blast! Not the easiest game in the world, but it sure is fun. This was down in Nanaimo, here on Vancouver Island, BC. Might drive down to Victoria this Sunday for the match down there, got the bug now, hehe.

1st round: 13/40

6 chickens
1 pig
2 turkeys
4 rams

2nd round: 15/40

3 chickens
3 pigs
3 turkeys
6 rams

I picked up a Savage Mark II FSS stainless .22lr rifle last Wednesday, went out practicing that day and Thursday, then shot the match on Sunday. It's my first rifle, and I'm liking it so far. Only started shooting this summer, with airguns I picked up back then. I guess the plinking out back is what helped out at the match. Obviously I've still got a long way to go, hehe. All the people at the match were quite friendly, and offerred advice about my next scope purchase. Apparently estimating where to aim with a 30/30 reticle isn't the best way to go about it, hehe, and I should find myself a half-decent scope with target turret adjusters. I figured I did ok with my cheapo $65 Tasco 3-9x32mm, though. I zeroed it at 50m at the range the other day, and luckily at 9x the reticle gets wider right near where I need to aim to hit at 100m, so really the only big problem I had was the turkeys. Well, and my shaky stance/hold, hahaha.
