I am using a Bragara B14 HMR .300wm. Yes, I have sighted it in.I'm curious as to what firearm your using and if you've already sighted it in with factory ammo? If so loading the above charges in 3 0r 5 rounds are ok,

it is quite frustrating when I read here and you guys disagree with what the Internet says I watched so many Youtubers, read so many articles that said that I should have my bullet as Close as possible to the lands and even touching it would not be a bad thing. I have ordered an overall length gauge I'll have it here next week sometime and I will compare my dummy round to another dummy round and see the difference.
This is unsound reasoning, as others have said, if you like your rifle and like your hands and face, pull the bullets and start over with documented powders. From what I've been told, the HD powder is a newer powder, and that's why some of the data that I've been looking at does not have it. It was also recommended by the retailer to pick up this powder, and hence I did. I was also suggested If I could not find data, i could match the weight of the bullet and its construction and then start at the lowest amount of powder needed IE the minimum and work up from there.
Unfortunately, there's so much information out there, and even looking at books No one book seems to agree with each other, which even makes it harder to get all this sht straight lol.
I did make a typo earlier as my maximum powder was 65 grains (not 61), and the minimum is 61, and 5 percent of that would be -3.2gr and with what i loaded still puts me lower than the 5 percent Mark. I can pull them add an extra 1grain so I'm at 61gr, since I put 60gr in, then reseat with the additional depth that is being suggested here.
I actually do this with an empty case and a bullet. I seat the bullet with the rifle, measure the OA length, then reduce that length by .005 or .010. I check to make sure it does fit in the mag. Make and keep a journal of each caliber and each load, and record all details. If you took a fully prepped case and stuck a bullet into it and forced it closed with the bolt I would bet you are jammed well beyond the start of the lands. For under 20 bucks you can get a Hornady oal gauge.
No. 72grn is the minimal on posted data. Dont ever go below min with posted data.OK, so I decided I’m going to load my horny 168BTHP by the data that I have. Now, do I need to subtract the 5% from the lowest amount?
The lowest is 72grn at 2700fps, 74.8grn 2800fps, 77.5grn 2900fps, 80.3grn 3000fps 83grn 3100fps and the max is 85.8grn 3100fps.
If I don’t need to subtract the 5% should I just then load five of each group?
Sounds like it is compressed. That, by itself, doesn't matter. One thing I noticed while I was doing my horny cartridges this evening when I got to the 80.3 grain and I seated my bullet so that my COL read 3.339 I could not hear the powder move inside the case is ceiling depth too low should I adjust it slightly or does it not even matter? Or is consider to be compressed load?
