So, I am pretty excited.
My tax return came in and I was able to buy my first rifle. I was pretty torn about where to go with my first rig, but I decided what I really wanted to do was long distance target shooting. Obviously I am gonna start at 100, but as I get more accurate I wanna work my way back. I called up frontier and man they were fast to ship the rifle. I definitely gotta give em 2 thumbs up!!!
what I finally settled on.
Remington 700 5r (in 308)
warne tactical 20 MOA rail
Burris XTR rings (low)
Bushnell 6-24 50MM FFP tactical scope
Harris BR-S bipod
and now for the pics
and a couple with the scope
The scope is pretty close to the barrel. I cannot attach the covers Bushnell supplied to the scope, there just isn't the required clearance. I want to look into getting some flip up covers, but in the interim I may break out the dremel to cut a small grove in the covers so it fits without torquing the scope
One last picture with the bipod
I've attached everything hand tight (nothing crazy tight, just snug) Is there anything I should worry about other then making sure she is good and clean before I head out to the range this weekend?
I tried boresighting the scope, and to be frank, I was kinda shocked at how the scope was pretty much lined right up with what I saw thru the barrel (was looking about 30 feet away). I'll try a quick boresight at 50M at the range before I start shooting.
Cripes I am excited, come on weekend!!!!!
