After three years of bow hunting I FINALLY took my first whitetail. I know its a doe and its not the biggest deer in the bush... But its my first so I'm proud. Last year resisted a iffy shot at a big buck and earlier this year i let a small fawn pass. Tonight this doe and a bit smaller doe came out and I couldn't hold back any longer. Came into 35 yards and i took the shot. Haters gonna hate but Im happy with my first deer. http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc495/sandrewb/379796_406116884959_505689959_1519652_469867776_n.jpg

NICE animal

you know... its a doe... not the biggest in the bush and so on. Im pumped tho and aint no one going to bring me down.

We're all on your side here Sandrewb.

Anyone would be proud of making that shot and collecting the prize.

You'll eat well in the coming year....Does generally have more fat than nearly any bucks this time of year, so you have the best meat to dine on!
Congrats and nice shooting!w:h:

Thanks guys. I know lots of haters out there but thanks for the positive comments. Probably better positive comments coming from an actual hunting forum. Might be looking like im ####ting myself but I think i was getting ready for a diff camera. This pic was taken in my driveways well after the hunt and track was done. Tho she only ran about 50 yards which made tracking fairly easy.

What a rush, huh? You'll get that rush everytime you get one in your sights. It's addictive.

Won't be too many haters on this fourm. And, while you are eating some nice tender backstraps, lots of guys, myself included, will be sitting down to a nice bowl of tag soup this year.

Sounds like you had some buddies ragging on you or you've spent too much time reading bs hunting magazines and feel like shooting a doe is embarrassing. Archery hunting is more challenging than a rifle hunt and to be able to take an animal during it is quite an impressive feat. You've beat all of an animals senses in their backyard, something a lot of people can't say they've done.

You would feel even better if you used a real bow!!! LOL Just kidding.

I have been bow hunting 7 years and yet to harvest one. Lost a buck that I shot twice, found his remains the following spring almost a mile away. Switched broadheads so hopefully that won't happen again.

Shot a decent doe last year, last day of shotgun hunt. Probably the nicest deer I have ever eaten, and verrry glad to get her.

So congrats and thanks for sharing. And good on you for passing up the ??? shots! We need more young hunters like you.

Congrats on your first deer after putting in alot of time. I prefer taking a 120-150 lb deer for the quality of the meat and you cant eat antlers. You can however look at them and remember the hunt. At this point I'll take a large fawn, I'm not getting out much and not seeing deer.

Congrats on your first deer! My first one was a doe as well. It was my first hunt and my husband didn't want me hunting with the guys while they were doing chases across the lake. So I still hunted behind one of the fields and had my deer by noon. You should have seen his face when they came out for lunch and I already had a deer...

To be honest, I've been hunting 10 years and just shot my first buck in November. Nothing wrong at all with shooting does. It's all meat in the freezer.
